Great start to June...NOT! I woke up at like 5 to shut windows b/c there was a thunderstorm. I went back to sleep till the alarm and I said to myself just 5 more minutes...I thought I reset the alarm...Well I didn't b/c the next thing I know it is 7:20---no time for running this morning...I'll be lucky if I can walk the dogs before I have to leave for school.

I am thinking about brining my running stuff to school (I have a 4 hour break). But I have a lot of school work to do so we shall see....I may just run later on tonight afterschool...but lets be serious--the probability of that happening is slim...LOL

Todays run was hard...made me wonder why I run. It was hard waking up this morning, hard getting out there and then hard running. It got a little better after 2.5 miles but still it kinda sucked. Glad it is over.

So I set my garmin down by my computer so it would download. Well I heard it beep--there is no activities in the garmin, but they also did not download into garminconnect. What am I missing?

and p.s. I signe up for the Madison 1/2 for August...yippee!

UPDATE

Fastrunningblog won't let me post sooo here is my response to everyone's comments.

I have a 405 ( I love it)
it wasn't my first time uploading either. I usually upload after everyrun. I don't really get how to scroll to see my individual times for each mile.
Any who...I never downloaded after the 5k. When I started running this morning it started tracking on that race. So I had to stop and start a new work out. So I wonder if that messed it up? At any rate I lost both runs!

And i'm so happy to have signed up for the 1/2. There is a 10 K I want to sign up for too that is in like 3 weeks. I know b/c I paid the money I will get out there and run!

And I didn't think my race from Saturday would still be effecting me today?! I thought I would be okay. I even told myself that it was okay that I missed yesterdays run b/c i was still recovering...lol

Today I ate the usual cherrios, banana, milk, juice--lunch pb and j, doritos, 1/2 a coke, and an apple, snacke I had a bagel with cream cheese...sporadic gummy worms thrown in all day. another snack i had peanuts and powerade. And dinner I had ribs, baked potato with butter and water. I will probably have some popcorn before bed.

I had some shin pain. I'm just gonna use my stick and rub on them (it is the lateral part of my lower leg not the boney part so it shouldn't hurt)

I taped Conan and his first night. Here is a clip ifyou missed it....Maybe Conan is a runner?

I used the stick this morning on my legs before my run. I would say that if I had done my quads as well I would have been fine. but where the muscle attaches to the knee from the quad is where I was having some tightness. It could also be that it was a little too chilly to wear shorts. But last few days I wore pants and felt to hot. Go figure.

My run had lots of hills...I got faster as the run progressed...Somedays I just wish I could start out at a 10 min mile and end with a 8minute one...instead I go from 11 to about 10 to 9:30...beggers can't be choosers I suppose.

I am still researching food...yu have been super helpful with suggestions. Getting rid of eatin one slice of cheese everyday on my sandwich has really helped eleviate my mood swings...still working out some other kinks in the diet.

What sports drinks do you all drink? I drink powrade but would like to cut back on the sugar (has muchhhh less than gatorade). I drink the advanced electrolyte system.

I'm having some technical difficulties downloading my run today. I may have to sit here with some knitting. I'm pretty sure most of my homework is done for the week so I can dawdle a little today. Yippee!

Any who I'm chilled-going to go for a hot shower! My fav part of a run!

I"m not sure how long or my pace or anything b/c I stopped my watch mid run b/c I was feeling woozy and then forgot to start it again...it is very humid today and I didn't bring any water. I had planned a 3 miler but ended up doing 4.7 b/c i wanted to...but felt woozy twice...so my garmin was all confuzzled...I still feel a bit woozy...Not sure what is up with that

I'm going to try to go in and see if someone will pick up my shift for work today. I can't get a hold of they guy that said he would and what would they do if no one showed up?? LOL

Any who cross your fingers that the other person will show up--now I have it into my head that I reallllly don't want to work today!

Weird weird run. I ran pretty slow the entire time except the last few miles. I was distracted by all the huge houses for sale. Also my usual first two miles were shin painful. I noticed that I can hear my footfalls. After a while I was treading lighter and the pain went away...so Now Ijust have to remember to listen for my feet--if I can hear them then I will probably feel pain. I have been noticing this trend the first few miles.

And I wore my fuel belt today...i started wearing it at my hips and it kept creeping up. so after a few miles of messing it I moved it to my waist. right above my belly. Not horribley uncomfortable but atleast it stopped moving.

I tosssed and turned all last night so I wasn't really expecting a great run. But it actually turned out quite nice.

7:40am start 63 degrees ended at 67 degrees. Semi humid feeling.

On ravelry.com forum we were discussing Galloway and his run/walk method of training. I tried it this morning. Instead of walking when i'm exhausted (like I usually do) I started walking early. I walked every 4-6 minutes or after a hill. This seemed to help and I felt better. i didn't run any faster in the run as a whole BUT instead of having the first few miles as a 12 min pace I was at a pretty consistent 9:30 to 10 min pace. Except for the hills...I still go down to a about an 11:30 pace for some hills.

Yeah good run!

The weather lady said there was a 10 % chance of rain this morning. So I thought I would wakeup a little earlier to get in my 8 miler...i woke up at 5:45 to thunderstorms....sigh...let the dogs out ate some breakfast and went back to bed from 6:30 to about 8:30. I have to say that I should not have taken the nap. I should have staye awake and puts around.

I did and out and back. They remind me of knitting socks...once you knit the first one ou don't want to do the second...I was very sluggish--i fought the run basically the entire way. Galloway 5:1 was not working for me...seems when i did finally get into a groove it was time to walk again...also I only brought water with me. Last week I had some left over sports beans and some powerade...that run was stronger...must not forget food and water next time...

oh and it was HOT and humid. I know 69 is not that hot but the humidity is at 85%...YUCK!

AND there was sooo much traffic. I got yelled at and honked at and stared at...oh i hate running at 9am--note to self...do not do that again..

I made it through this run b/c I told myself that when I got home I would make a smoothie (bananas, strawberry, and blueberry)

and look at this little guy that I almost stepped on...

weird looking lobster guy

It is suppose to hit 89 today...20 degrees hotter than it is now...shoot me! My only refuge is that I will be working tonight. We haven't turned on the air conditioner in our house yet..Trying to save some money.

I am taking a meteorology class. It is only and if I was actually remembering anything from the class I would be able to tell you what kind of clouds I saw this morning. They maybe stratus clouds--only b/c they looked like stripes in the sky. It was fun run b/c I would get drizzled on in one area and then no rain. And some areas it is super dark and some areas it is light out.

I wish I brought my phone with me, but I usually only take it for long runs when I think I may have to call for help! hahaha.

Any who--good run, no pain. OH and I love how accurate my garmin is. I looked at my map and it even showed when I crossed over the street from the left to the right, so that I could avoid the garbage truck. Cool huh?

Here are my splits--I did one fast part....I was on a roll and there were no hills...I hope Madison isn't hilly!

average pace       Max Speed

1: 10:53               8:13 (probably when i was cross the street)
2: 10:58               9:00
3: 9:44                 7:58 No hills--this was my fast mile
4:10:30                8:32  stupid hill

I used the stick and planked and stretched slightly before I headed out with water...Very good run...very slow but good.

P.S. I just realized that there is still a week left of June and I'm already over the mileage I had in May....I hope I'm not adding too much too fast! (I"m thinking next month I will be at 100 for the month...I may get to 80 this month...whew!

I tried some fartlek on this run...I think I maybe insane because it is really hot, but I did okay considering. I was trying to kick my own butt b/c I was sort of being complacent on this run. I was running super slow so I decided to run fast spurts to the stop sign or the light pole. This helped and made my pace speed up a little.

I woke up at 5:30 to beat the heat. It is suppose to be 100 something with the heat index. I ran in a new pair of shorts today from target (champion). I like them but I think they would be too short for a longer run. They creep up quite a bit.

I had to run by the park today to refill my water bottle and pour some more on my head...very hot...

average pace: 10:19

On another note...my birthday is coming up in September and a few years ago I had decided every year I would do something different (semi big). Last year I ran my first 1/2, one year I went sky diving. You get the picture. I'm having a hard time deciding what to do this year. Any ideas? Don't say run a marathon. I think that will be my thing for next year. I have no time to train for one this year...but I will next...

I did 5:1 run/walk today. I don't like it. Well I like it for a warm up but not for the entire run. I can't get into a groove. I skipped a few walk breaks and only then did my pace go below 10. So I think I will continue to use the Galloway method for warm ups and then as needed...but nothing on a regular basis...I know he says to walk early and the end goal is to take fewer breaks in the end so maybe I'm already at that point. Who knows....good run...Glad I'm out of the heat...

I did 10 min of running and then 30 seconds of fast all out running. This is my version of speed training. LOL I was actually running pretty good during the 10 minutes as well. Good run...very thirsty!

My fastest 30 was a 7 min pace b/c a bird was trying to attack me. I stayed in the 9's for the 10min portions of the run.

I got home and did some arm strengthening exercises. This is not for running but more for vanity purposes. I noticed since I'm bartending more and not serving as much my arms are dwindling. I carry trays when I serve...beer when I bar (not as heavy) :)

Then I took the dogs for a walk and came home to shower only to find when I got out of the shower that one of them peed on the carpet! I don't know which one it was but I was very upset and threw them all outside....I"m like hello! You were all just outside walking? Didn't think to pee then? Jeez!

Happy Sunday running all!

I got a late start this morning. I didn't wake up until about 8. I was super tired. I did some laundry and laid out in the sun for an hour while reading some homework and then went and rain 4 miles. I was only going to run 3 but I convinced myself, "What's one more?" My pecs are pretty sore from yesterday and so are my legs for that matter. I guess speed work tires out my legs too.

Oh and it seems to be working! All but the first mile were between a 9:50 and 9:30 pace. Sweet! I also think that running 5 days a week is helping...
