I bought a new Nike Shirt. Love the color...hate that it looks like a half shirt on me. It rides up. I have a long torso and some shirts end up doing that. I will keep it anyway and wear a different pair of pants the next time I run in it.

After my run I took the 3 dogs on a .8 mile walk. Well I ended up jogging with them b/c they were unusually hyper and pulling. They liked that...On our normal walk there is this white fluffy little dog that always barks and makes my one dog go nuts. Well today the owner was actually out with him and was walking him across the street to where we were. I stopped and turned directly around. My dogs didn't even notice him but the fluffy dog was all going bonkers. And my dogs weigh about 190 lbs alltogether. I can control them but I just didn't feel like today I would be able to. The owner got some made! She was like ma'am you can walk over here! I'm like no thanks

I could see her from across the park she wasn't even walking the dog she was only taking him across the street to do his business. Well no wonder the dog is so cranky all the time! He never gets to go for a walk.

Any one watch the Dog Whispherer? I have caught it a few times and walks are the most important thing for dogs. When I skip one I notice it that day or the next time we are on a walk. Okay well i'm sure you have had your fill about my dogs!

6:30am Goal: Loosen up tight left hamstring

Pace: 11:00

My hamstring has been so tight since Saturday.

Today is the first day of school--I woke up extra early (well I also don't have a choice b/c the dogs woke me up)

Happy running all!

Goal--loosen up hamstring and work on Chi form.

My legs felt so tight today. And I know it is b/c of my hammies. I keep stretchng. I read that I may feel soreness in my core due to Chi running but not in my hamstrings...am I doing something wrong? I checked my shadow today and my reflection yesterday as I ran and I have a lean...and no bend in my waist...or could it be all the hills? I started both at about the same time? I soaked in a hot bath last night and that helped a little. This morning after my run I took a cold shower. That seemed to help a bit more. Then I walked the dogs hoping that would act as part of my cool down and would help hamstring not tighten up some more.

Funny thing happened on my run- a weiner dog came barrelling at me. I stopped traffic for the little guy and he still went to bite me. I'm like go figure! His owner wasn't far behind so I went on my way.

P.S. I'm buying my garmin today...tee hee

I don't have much time b/c I have to get the dogs on their walk before subbing...but my legs felt like old lady legs...It is weird...I haven't worked since Sunday and now my legs feel sluggish? Maybe too much sitting around and doing homework?

It was hard to wake up this morning at 6am...so i thought I would give myself some time to wake up. So I ate breakfast, did some homework, walked the dogs and was out the door by 8..Well apparently this was the wrong thing to do--first people are driving their kids to school so the driving is ridiculous. Second-I'm more awake and therefore think more and therefore my phantom pains came back. Then my mom called on the phone and this one leg pain twinge got worse. I'm going to call that leg pain from now on "mom" LOL any who..I was surprised I ran as far as I did (I wanted to do my usual 4.75)

I think tomorrow I will do a 3 miler b/c I would like to do a 6 miler maybe on Thursday or Friday. Or maybe tomorrow I will cross train...oh wait...my garmin is suppose to come today...i shall have to run! LOL!

Goal-try out Garmin on a run, Practice chi- running (pick up my feet) and chi hills

I can't say I slept very well last night. Thunderstorms were loud! I woke up atleast twice because of the house rattling!

Things I hate about the garmin--but I expect I will get use to this one. I do not like the band  for the watch. I did not notice it digging into my boney arm on my run but I did notice it when I was first put it on.

That is about it...everything else I love. I think it is so cool that i can tell my grade now on the runs (25 % was the highest) and my speed. I was very slow today. I at first had the watch moving between data fields...but I noticed that I hated that. I would look at my watch and couldn't tell if that was my pace, or the time or what. So I decided to just keep it at the one screen- pace, mileage, and grade.

I also turned the tone off. And I didn't feel the need to put the bezel on lock down. I had no problems with accidental touches. Maybe if it were raining I would?

And I love how easy it is to download my run. The watch literally just sits next to the computer. I was able to shower and eat and then come back and look at my garmin connect stuff. I purposely ran in the cemetery today just so I could get some extra squiggles on my map (i know i'm weird)

Okay enough about the 405--I love it and I'm glad I finally got it. (I haven't tried the heart rate monitor yet)

Okay so Chi-Running. I read the rest of the book last night. It annoyed me that the author decided to wait till the last parts of the book to say hey if you are feeling pain here you are probably doing this wrong, so now do this.

So I am attributing my shin and hamstring pain (hamstring pain came on when i started Chi-Running) to not picking up my feet and bringing my feet to far out from my body. Here is the weird thing-I tried picking up my feet and leaning...and I felt like I was going to fall down. I felt like I was using more energy..and honestly I felt like a nope. OH another thing he says later in the book is that you shouldn't start out on hills...well i have a lot of hill around here..and apparently you run differently when running up and down hills. Again why wait to tell me all this?

Today I felt like the up hill chi runing was successful, but down hill was not in that I felt like I was pounding too hard.

Tomorrow I think I will do laps around the park. I"m sure it is only 1//2 a mile long but it is flat and will give me a better gauge of what I am or am not doing when it comes to Chi Running.

Whew...this was very long...thanks for reading!

I ran 5 days this week! Must keep it up! Today I played with my watch and tried to focus on keeping my feet up when running and my knees down...felt weird...but the pains would go away when i did...but i felt more out of breath...

So I did a warm up and a cool down but here are my splits now that Sno told me how to make that part work

Mile 1: 11:22

Mile 2: 11:15
Mile 3: 10:02

See I knew I was getting faster over a period of time. When I was running with a group they would start out all fast (like 30 seconds above the pacing time) and then I woudl wonder why I was dying by the end...well guess what? it is b/c I am a slow starter but finish strong! LOL

any who i'm tickled I ran 5 days this week! tee hee

I'm trying to decided if I want to go drive 3 hours to Madison in August for the inaugural 1/2 marathon...sounds like it would be fun...and it would take place before fall semester starts back up...Plus it could serve as a mini gettaway...now what to do with all the dogs while we are gone!

Too chilly in the a.m to run..I did some reading and then ran. I icy hot my knees last night and they felt like new this morning. Till about mile 3ish...there were hard hills...so i'm icy hotting again...any one know of any other icy hot like product that doesn't stink up the whole house?

I ran across the street at a 6:30 pace--i felt like a gazelle--a dying gazelle but still gazelle like. Atleast now I know my legs can move that fast...now I just have to get my lungs to agree with the pace and get my legs conditioned to keep that pace up! Okay I know I"m dreaming!

Oh yeah running seemed easier when I was concentrating on picking up my feet--but agin then they started moving faster buy my lungs were not in agreement..here are my splits

1-10:20

2-10:19

3-10:05 (surprising b/c of hills)

4-10:32

About the Madison Half...turns out my folks may or may not be able to watch the three dogs for the weekend if we went up there...so I have to find others to watch them or take them to the usual kennel(which only sucks b/c it is a little further south and we will be traveling north)

and lastly I need to come up with a training plan...grrr...i was going to use runners world's thing again but they only have me running 3 days aweek and I would like to stay at bare minimum 4 days...

Happy running!

I slept an extra hour today...Hoping that would make me less cranky...We shall see...maybe I do need 8-9 hours of sleep.

Or my mother and I were talking and she thinks it is my diet. Since moving in with my boyfriend cheese and soda (among other things) were added to my diet. When i lived alone I told myself I couldn't afford those things...Well my boyfriend thinks you can't live with out soda.

This week I"m going to start tracking what I eat and see where the trend lies. Today I cut cheese out of my sandwich. I know my mood swings won't change in one day but we did run out of cheese slices today so it seems super convenient to start today.

Today I ate Cherrios and milk and Cranapple juice.

for a snack I packed-a cinnamon raison bagel with cream cheese

For lunch I packed a turkey sandwich on wheat bread with mayo, Doritos, pear, coke

dinner-peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie, and water.

I drink water all day long and try to stick to one coke/mt dew a day rule but this one lecture I have is sooo boring.

i hope i just have to cut out cheese and not coke...or just limit my caffeine to days when i'm in my morning class on mondays and wednesdays.

today I did pushups and a variety of ab exercises

I know it sounds ridiculous...but whatever...no one could hear me except for my brain which almost automatically relieved some of the pain...it went to the knees after tht...which is a little more tolerable than both shins hurting. any who..i did it...

breakfast-cherrios, banana, and milk

I'll update through the day what else I eat...

update-lunch pb and j carrots, and dorritos, and a coke (my one for the day)

dinner-steak, sweet potato, cranapple juice

Intervals--today I did 3 minutes of rest and 1 minute of fastness. I only repeated this 4 times. I probably could have warmed up a little more but again I was trying this out. No pain today...I feel very tired now. I didn't get to bed until 230am on friday night and I swear I'm still recovering (i really could not sleep)

during my fast times I ran on average 8:30-8:45 pace and during slower times I ran about 10:15 pace.

is this too much of a difference?

I made up my 1/2 marathon schedule (i haven't committed to go yet b/c I want to make sure the dogs are taken care of)

Sundays I will do intervals or fartleks...some sort of speed work.
Monday-easy run
Tuesday-easy or maybe a tempo if i'm feeling it (which is better for wanting to improve race time? tempo or intervals?)
Wednesday-rest
Thursday-long run
Friday-easy run
Saturday-rest or make up for days lost or biking

6:20am Goal-run 3-5 miles.

I just woke up mad today. It looked really dreary out. I have been getting anry b/c I have been walking the dogs a little later in the morning and there are a ton of people out with their dogs. So I thought I would walk them before it started to rain and before my run. the I decided maybe I would run them. . I took them around the park like normal. Is it wrong of me to be annoyed that there are so many more runners out than there was yesterday when I ran or the day before or even in the last month! I think the angrier I got the more my shins hurt so I called it quits after .6 miles and walked the rest of the way home.

I think I just get annoyed b/c it just keeps getting more and more conjested here. My boyfriend and I were at a friends house over the weekend in an area where we would like to move to. Maybe even a little further south. So we took a trip down dream highway and took the long way home so we could see and point out houses in the middle of corn fields that we would like to live in. Sigh...I just keep telling myself 2 more years and we can move...I just hope we can still get a good deal by then.

Okay fade back into today... I started thinking about my goals and blah blah blah...so I am calling it a cross training day. I went for a bike ride. I get extra points b/c mid ride a down pour occurred. I knew it was going to rain but I just thought it was so fun going up and down the hills. The rain got so bad that I couldn't see anymore b/c I couldn't wipe the rain out of my eyes fast enough! I tried out the garmin on the bike too. I dont' have the attachments I just switched it to bike mode. What would be different if I got the optional attachment stuff for the bike?

Any who I did 4.73 on the bike and I found a new 3 mile route for running. (I dont' like my other one anymore)

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!

push-ups ab stuff. Walked dogs.

Today for my meals

Breakfast-Cherrios, banana, cranapple juice, vitamins

Lunch and dinner I packed (i'm in school all day)

Turkey and mayo sandwich, green peppers, cucumber slices, 2 apples, Bagel with cream cheese, mountain dew, lots of water, vanilla yogurt with granola

If I get hungry i will go to the salad bar and get some salad.

So how am I doing so far? Any better than last week?

And Saturday I am running my first 5k with my brother...Friday night we are having a BBQ for my mom's 50th. I am torn between drinking more than a few and just running the 5k or just having a drink or two and running the 5K all out. I mean I don't have anything to prove. My brother says he hasn't ran in months so it is hard to say what his pace will be. I know why he actually trains he can run a 7 minute mile. So we shall see how this all turns out!

Oh yeah and one other thing--I got The Stick last night...so far so good (hammies keep tying up in knots)

The food spread after was awesome! I love small races (only about 300 people). My garmin had us at 2.92 miles...so I dunno...but my overal pace was a 9:32. Running with my bro was motivating b/c he is so much faster! (he slowed to let me catch up). I think i'm gonna start pushing myself harder.
