I am suppose to be running....9 miles today...but I don't feel like it...If I don't get out there soon I will lose my window of opportunity. Why am I Like this? All gun ho and then like today I'm like foregt it!

I just think I could be doing homework (I do have a project) or cleaning blah blah blah...it is 59 degrees out...could that be it? Too cool outside?

I know from experience that if I do run a long run in this mood it will turn out horribley. So then I thought about just a short 5 miler (maybe it would turn into a 9?) sigh....

It could be my time crunch too...I hate rushing a run...

UPDATE--I read some of your blogs from yesterday...Rattletrap's got to me...he was watching people run from the hospital. ...I can just imagine his knee all bruised with a sad face...Then I also realized I ran 98 miles last month...soooo I can't let that be my record? So maybe my cool thing for my bday will be to run 100+miles for July...and get some new shoes...LOL

So I ran...yippeee...I did get out a little later than planned, my stomach was upset so I had to get rid of that first. The first 2.5 miles stunk b/c my legs and my feet felt so tight. Once I got to the bike trail I stretched and ran the rest. My Garmin was acting up. At some points it said I was running a 7:30 or an 8 mile. Um not possible...Only b/c I felt like I was barely running (due to the pains I was having).

For 2 miles it rained and I loved it. Except I was wearing contacts (I hate glasses in the rain) and rain kept pooling in my eyes so I had to keep squeezing my eyelids to squeegy the water out. (did I spell squeegy right?)

Last 1.5 miles my stomach issues came back and I either had to puke or go number two. So I hurried home and not a moment too soon b/c I had to run to the bathroom...

All in all my average pace was about 10:30. I figure that is about right since the frist 3 miles were horrid. The last 6 I ran a comfy 9:30 to 9:50 pace.

Today I tried Dots for fuel. Not such a great idea

I got up early this morning in order to run early...but then I found in the fridge that a powerade spilled all over...oops So I cleaned that up and ran

my foot hurt.

But the real story is when I took the dogs for a walk after the run. I was picking up poop and this lady jogs by and covers her mouth and said "Oh that stinks" I"m like well no way  it is poop! Then there was a lady reading while walking..and another jogger...I have to find a new walking route b/c this is starting to stink. Then there are other dog walkers...the people with the bigger dogs tend to walk the other way when they see my 3 coming...but the little dogs just keep walking and they have the worst owners. Something about they don't want to discipline there little babies. I think I have talked about this one little dog that my boy dog absolutely hates...any who...end dog and rude people rant!

I am going away for the weekend to Indianapolis. I decided I'm not going to run. I'm going to experiment starting Monday with Running 5 days in a row...

6:40am--68degrees

Not a good start to the week! My objective was to run 9-10 miles today. I drove a little south (5-6 miles) so I could run in the country and get a change of scenery. Wrong choice!

Any who my shins HURT! but when they finally stopped hurting (abuot 2 miles into it) I had to go number 2 sooooo bad! I could barely run b/c when I would run I wuold have to go that much more. And I say I was in the country but one side of the street was corn fields and the other is houses (huge development areas around here) so there is no way I could go on the sneak. I finally got back to my truck and drove home in such stomach pain.

Finally got relief when I got home. I shall do my long run on Wednesday now. That will teach me for trying to move my schedule around this week!

How was everyones Fourth? I went to Indy--but hardly saw fireworks. The City fireworks were cancelled so we just watched what we could from the garage. It rained all day! But all in all I had a really good time. The more my boyfriends uncle's had to drink the more they bugged him about why he hadn't asked me to marry him yet. Which was funny to a point, because usually I get bombarded with the marriage and baby questions. I tried to tell him hey we are happy right now and with school and blah blah blah it just isn't the right time...but he just kept going on and on...LOL

6am 65 degrees

Perfect day weather wise to go for a run. But my shins were killing me. I might as well of walked the whole darn thing. This wouldn't be so bad if I knew what was causing all of this. The only thing I can think of is that I'm stomping at the beginning of my run sometimes. But how do I stop this? I tried concentrating but then it got worse. I don't sound like a hurd of elephants, but my footfall is louder than usual. ChiRunning says to pretend you are running in sand--then I tend to run on tip toes (which doesn't hurt btw) but I wouldn't be able to keep that up.

I'm going to go shoe shopping tonight b/c I think it is about time for shoes and I would like to get them broken in before the 1/2 in August. Which is another thing I'm worried about!! That if my legs and feet are all crampy during my race! I only run 1-2 races a year and that would be devastating to have a bad race...BLAH! Sorry for the rambling. Happy Running :)

Not feeling so good today. My uterus is screaming at me...and I get so lethargic during this time. So that is why I have another hour or so of nap time logged. I woke up, took some ibprofen, ate breakfast, checked email and went back to bed. Woke up still groggy but made myself walk the dogs. I threw in some jogging intervals and counted this mile as my warm up.

The new shoes are comfy-I got them at kohls yesterday. Trying a new brand and so far I like asics. I'm still going to use my brooks but I thought if I switched shoes every other day they would be able to breath and perhaps work better for me. Plus the brooks aren't going to last another 2 months so I figured I would break in these pair before the 1/2.

I thought I would get rained on. This thought made me happier and run faster...but then the drizzling went away and I was sad. :( no rain for me. ...

Off to a cold bath to help my muscles!

Day 4 of running in a row.

I don't like it. I think I like my breaks in between 2 or 3 days of running.

This run was the best of the week. My knees hurt a little but I had a little conversation with my legs and they felt okay. 10:30ish pace.

I have a garmin question--Has anyone had problems sometimes witht he bezel not working? I don't know how many times I hit the training button today and it didn't want to do anything. It would go to history or the time. When I finally got it to work I change the bezel sensitivity to high (it was at medium). I'll see if that helps tomorrow. I had the same problem yesterday!

So I know I'm in a lot of classes but I also have a lot of commutting time. So I burned my coffee break spanish lessons from Itunes. It is a cool and free podcast. I have taken spanish classes in college and highschool. the way they teach spanish is not very friendly to actually learning the language. This podcast is less about learning words and grammer but more about conversation and then learning the grammar. It is better to learn a language in this manner than in vocab and grammar in isolation. (see my education classes are paying off)

Any who my school that I'm at does not have a language department. Eventually I would like to get my Masters in education with spanish or however it maybe called.

Well enough of that. Happy running!

Note to self-work on leg weights before a day off not the day before you want to do intervals. the funny thing is I only did 10 reps of leg extensions. Weird?

Other than that it was a decent run. My 30 secs of speed got slower as the run progressed but that is okay.

Yesterday I pulled weeds and washed my truck. i was outside for maybe 2 hours and my entire back is burnt (i was wearing a bikini top)

On a food note--I'm totally addicted to this nut mix I bought. (getting rid of fake sugars--ie candy, soda will be next..trying to take one thing at a time)

It is a mix of cranberries, soy nuts, pumkin kernals, and almonds. YUM!

Scheduled day off. So the way I'm going I should be able to get a 12 miler in before the 1/2. This is exciting to me!

Going to walk the dogs and knit. Maybe do some homework and then register for the fall classes. I have a 430 class tonight with a presentation. Fall is my last semester before STUDENT TEACHING. The end is almost near and I can hardly believe it! I will be taking 19 credits. Two math courses, psychology online, and then 10 lab credits that involve teaching in real classrooms-math science and social studies. Last semester I taught Language Arts for the lab. Summer semester is almost over and I will have completed 24 credits over the summer.

I'm so excited about graduating in May..yippeee!

I woke up at 5:30 in hopes to start my long run today. 10 miles! But it is lightening out. Not too bad but not worth taking the chance. My night class was cancelled for tonight. I was trying to pick up a shift at work but so far no takers. So I may end up running 10 tonight. That will be interesting. I think it is suppose to be humid and icky out. Will keep you posted. For now it is homework, knitting, and maybe going back to bed for a bit.

UPDATE: I ran at 5:20pm today. I told myself that I would be happy if I ran it under 2 hours. I made that goal by 4 minutes. This was a great learning run. I should have brought more water. It was still pretty hot. upper 80's I think. at mile 7.5 ish I finally got to civiliazation and found a gas station and got some more water in the bathroom.

Also, my hair is getting much longer. The ponytail isn't working any more. I'm going to buy a buff as soon as I get off of here. I willprobably buy two. And a commitment skirt.

I love these long runs b/c I get to see so much more. Just 3.5 miles south of me there is so many farms interspersed with housing developments. It is amazing how much has grown around here even in the 2 years that Ihave been coming out here.

Is it harder on the legs to run on gravel/rocks or on the road?

OH and on another side note. People are a little nicer in the afternoon.I had two people yell to me words of encouragement.

All in all I'm happy with my run even though I did a lot of walking...and now my feet hurt!

Good run today. I saw another runner too! I did run in a sorta new area. That was a nice change.

I did some speed work. Sorta. I would run 10 minutes at sort of a slow pace and then sprint for 30 seconds. those times I was happy with. I wasn't too happy with my slower times.

I was crossing a not at all busy street and this lady comes zoomeing up the the stop sign. I was there first so I started to go-plus despite her speed she hesitated. I was half way across the street (well almost there) when she decided to hit the gas and just go. If i were in the middle of the street I would have been injured. Boy did I ever yell at the lady that is talking on her phone and oblivious to anything around her! Grrr

otherwise--weather was good. Knees were a little sore. I was a little sleepy. I had a very hard time sleeping last night. If forced myself to wake up telling myself that the run would keep me awake for the rest of the day and sleepign for another hour would just make me sleepier.

P.S. I got my committment skirt in the mail. I shall wear it tomorrow on my 11 miler and report on it.

I have been feeling very tired lately. For some reason this week has been horrible for getting my 8 hours in. I skipped my run and did some weights instead.

Does this make any sense--When I don't run I tend to have a bad allergy day. When I do run I have little to no problems (I may have a sinus headache). Can this be medically explained? Either way I take my meds every day whether I run or not. Just wondering if other have the same experiance. So today my nose is draining and I have itchy eyes...blah!

I got up early at breakfast and decided to go run at the bike trail. I took the yellow dog with me. He ran with me for 6 miles...and no he was not pooped at all! I'm like wow to only have your energy. We stopped back at my truck got water and I decided it wasn't a good Idea to leave him in there while I did another 6 (I wanted to run 12 today) Also, my committment skirt kept riding up. So I went home, went potty, changed into shorts got more water, dropped the yellow dog off and went for another 5. I was only suppose to do 11 today but I was hoping I could do 12.

In other news-the midterm was a killer! I don't think I did horrible but I didn't do fantastic either. I know just from listening to others I probably did better than 1/2 the class (it was matching a mathematician to 2 of 60 statements, which were either their mathematical contribution or some off the wall quirky fact she threw in there). In essence there were 30 mathematicians I had to memorize. Then there were 30-40 other questions from quizzes we took or from lecture. It was definately a challenge. Well now i'm going to research more on Buckyballs which are quite facinating--they may lead to a cure for cancer or aids, which incidently I found that China may have either found a cure or a vaccine I think it is going through the trial phases of the research. Well now that I have bored you with rambling on with things I find facinating! Happy running!

6am 65 degrees

15 minutes of weights and crunches. My back has been sore lately...I hope it is b/c of myweights and not b/c I'm running funny with the dog. I know it has changed my form a little.

I took the yellow dog again. This time on a usual route with no sidewalks. that would pretty horrible. He got spooked from what I"m not sure, twice and ran behind me and into the street. Then for whatever reason the chickens that are usually in the side yard were in the front yard and he wanted to eat some. There were bunnies and birds that he wanted to chase after. I may just stick to running with him on the bike path when I don't have to go to school (no time to drive there before school days)

still on the hunt for new shoes--the asics are great but they are a little to cushy. I think they would be better for walking or just kicking around. Looking for ST3's in my size and still haven't found them...I think there is an ST4...

happy running!

7-am--nice a cool out. Even nicer in the shade. I caught my smallest toes on the couch this morning. That really hurt. They were okay during the run...but then I took off my shoes and I could feel the pain. well discomfort...It may bruise.

I have been forgetting to charge my garmin so it died mid run. Before it died I kept falling back into a comfy 10:30 pace. I kept trying to keep it below a 10. 9;30 pace felt good but if I don't concentrate I don't keep it...Is that weird?

BTW--I got an A on that math midterm. I had to look at it twice. With the curve I got an A+. I'm just super happy that I didn't need a curve to get the A. There were a lot of others that didn't do so well.
