And then it was bright!

5:30am--oh yes...I was up that early...yellow dog couldn't sleep and kept pacing! 38 degrees

I felt like such a dorkus with all my gear and clothes this morning. I had my fuel belt, jacket, a new  reflective sash that I bought when I got my head lamp. Which I got last night and I LOVE IT!! I can see now! and I can run whenever and whereever I want--with or with out street lights! People can see me! I like the sash b/c now I even reflect from the back so people can see me no matter what.

On a more depressing note--it was not hard at all to do an easy pace...in fact it was hard to keep up with it. I feel exhausted. I was so hungry! still my average pace wa s11:07...not too bad...but it felt awful. it is funny b/c i ran in 4 minutes slower than my first 1/2 marathon..no wonder I felt like crap...I think running slow just makes for a crappy day..but I couldn't help it...my legs wouldn't move. maybe I should bring sandwiches on my long runs from now on...

6:15am 55 degrees Windy 10:39 pace with the yellow dog

I walked some today. I think it is all the gear, that is waht I will blame my slowness on. Tomorrow I get a running day off. Maybe I will visit with some Jillian Michaels for strength.

Sabotage!

Well you all know I have been trying to eat better...Grrr...and I have been sucking at getting rid of the soda and candy...maybe it just isn't the right time in my life--I keep reading sites about kicking the sugar craving habit--and I really do all those things--i.e. EXERCISE, and eat sweeter veggies. The only thing I can think of that I"m lacking in diet is maybe protein--and that would be more meats in my life. i really only eat meat at night for dinner. During the day it is fruits and whole grains etc.

Now I"m in mood swing valley. And I hate it. I'm mad for no reason. i think I pinpointed that trigger--cheese. I couldn't find anything that specifically said that cheese is the culprit b/c apparently that is the new nickname for heroine...kinda funny, but not really waht I'm trying to research.

I walked the dogs today and did some strength exercises.

Maybe the problem is tha ti have so much guilt behind the sugars that it is putting too much pressure on myself. I"m not overweight...I just want the moodswings and the sleepies to go away....but then again what do you go fore when you are pissed or sleepie? comfort food like candy and a pop...grrrr vicious cycle!

1. Got attacked by black dog again, i hate that dog
2. my dog kept pulling on the leash which hurts my arm-so I tied it around my waist....he is the reason I had threshold miles today--he kept pulling me
3. I had a headache and side stiches and was in a bad mood
4. glad I went out anyway. I still have a headache but I feel mentally better
5. yellow dog likes to chase after little brown flying cricket things...not so cool

last two miles were 9 minute pace...average for the run was 9:48

6pm run 60 degrees. Windy towards the end.

I'm starting to like these dark runs. I did see a runner while running and one while walking the dogs. Neither were wearing reflective gear. I worry about that. Even in the areas with street lamps it is dark.

6:am---What a day....I set out to do 13 today..and guess what? I ran about a mile--got a phone call that they needed a sub at the highschool. So I ran an 8:30 mile back and got dressed and showered in like 15 minutes and rushed over to the highschool. I'm sooooo glad my degree will not allow me to teach highschool. They weren't bad. Actualy they listened pretty well but it was sooooooo boring! They are on block scheduleing 90 minutes! the teacher did not give them enough to do. And the stuff she did give them was boring! I'm glad I brought homework and such.

And I was so mad-the middle school called at around 8:30 wanting a sub--I'm like oh man!

This weas my frist time at the h.s.--and I will never do it again. The sub coordinator was very cranky and expected me to file for her (i only filed b/c this other lady was super nice). The lunchroom had a definate sub and staff tables. Usually I'm fairly warmly welcomed. I do not like the big stranger atmospher of the highschool...plus I never really liked h.s. while I was there. No wonder teenagers feel alienated!

Any who--I have a class tonight so the long run will have to wait till tomorrow...or maybe saturday...we shall see!

7:30 am run 32 DEGREES brrrr...end of run was only 38 degrees

I did some hill sprints today--i was trying to get my mojo going but it didnt' work. I forgot how long it takes me to warm up when i'm uncomfy. See I wore a shirt a bought at the end of the season last year. Supposedly it is suppose to wick. Well it doesn't. I work it under my jacket--so I was hot but then I took off the jacket and I was cold. I couldn't find my fav winter hat and gloves were too hot and itchy.

Aww growing pains of trying to figure out what to wear when it get colder

oh and I got lost. i did not intend to run almost 7 today! But I have had a hectic week so I won't complain.

I think I'm gonna do my long runs on Sundays now. Too many excuses get in the way of them during the week...and hopefully I will have more subbing days.

Happy running--stay warm!

Once again it is cold!!!! 32 degrees...I took the dog. I'm going online right now to buy that leash. I keep forgetting. We saw deer cross the road and walk on the railroad tracks. Very pretty. Such a graceful animal.

So I'm so glad I have my garmin--I felt like I ran horribley and the dog kept pulling on me and making me mad--turns out I got some MP miles in. Any who--I know a lot of you are racing today! Good luck-run well!

6:00am out early this morning!

I ran 10:30 average pace. It was 43 degrees.

I had a hard time falling asleep last night. I kept waking up with nightmares...this has been happening for a few days. they ware weird sci fi dreams. I know it is stress.

I have turned in many projects/lessons for school this semester but have gotten very little feed back as far as grades are concerned in two of my methods courses. it make me nervous b/c for the lab portion I need a 95 percent (which I am capable of doing) but our classroom that we are teaching in is horrible for classroom management. It makes me nervous about student teaching and just this semester in general.

We have a few repeat students (ie they failed the lab portion last semester) and they didn't know that they were doing bad till the very end. I do not want to happen (thankfully they had different teachers)

Any who...happy running all!

I hate running!

8:30am--12 min pace (excruciatingly slow). I walked the first mile. First off...I just can't get in the groove with long runs. I woke up at 6--decided I would eat breakfast and do some homework and then run. Well I ended up napping. Which is fine. I ate b/c I dn't know what to eat on my long runs. I'm not a fan of the gu...I just want my tummy not to feel empty at mile 8. it sucks and I dont' know how to fix it.

Oh and there were sooo many hills so I suppose I should be nicer to myself. My foot hurt for a lot of the run along with my left shin. What is up with that? I just ignored it or walked...eventually at some point it went away.

any who enough complaining--it is over...

So I'm wondering...if i want to run a June Marathon--is it okay to start doing long runs starting in January? I'm thinking that doing 10-13 for a while is beneficial for a base...but I need to know if I made that up in my head to justify not running a lot.

Hammies sore from all the hills yesterday. I got what I thought was going to be the dog runninng leash. Turns out is something you attach to your dog and then to a pole or soemthing. Not really what I wanted but thought I would try it this morning. I attached it to my reflective strap. I hated it! He could go wher ever hewanted! It is like a bungie cord...in the street whereever! So i'm returning it.

Run felt yuck today--I'm explaining that by yesterdays hard run...i really need to not have so many hills in my long run! LOL

Hardcore Workout

I woke up and had breakfast and told myself that once I finished my lesson plan (no later tha 10ish) then I could go run...i like using running as my reward...it is much better than waking up and thinking I have to go run.

Run was good. I saw other runners, I'mguessing the running store was doing something. they don't seem to change their path.

I tracked my food/calories for yesterday. 2500! 720 of that was a box of sugar babies...and two soda accounted from anotehr 200 calories. And I need to drink more water...I wonder if the problem is I am getting too little calories with just regular food. and that is why I over do it on the candy...hmm

I did weights today! I'm so proud of myself!

90 crunches (variety of side and reg on the ball)

2 sets of 10 lunges

1 set of 10 cross over lunges

2 sets of 10 24 lbs nose bleeds

2 sets of 20 8 lbs chest flies

2 sets of 10 45 lbs lateral chest pull down

I did some yoga to stretch out. Legs feel great.

2 sets of 20 squats with an 8lb ball stetched out in front of me

2 sets of 10 24 lbs dead lift

9am run--40 degrees windchill33..When did the wind chill start again? jeez!

Okay so I offically called this week a running hiatus. I found my blogs to be very negative and annoying to myself. So I gave myself a break. I still can't believe I only ran 10 miles in a week! I think the race brought me out of it. I also ended my 8 month boycott with the LRS. Yeah!I went shopping...they are the only ones that I know that have these nike pants that I love! I also picked up another mizuno breath thermo shirt. They didn't have womens so she suggested males..it is longer! I'm in heaven. Maybe I won't get red belly this winter! HA! I also got some hammergels and cliff blok to see if I like them. Afterwards I went grocery shopping and stocked up on yum foods and veggies.

A friend said to me why are you eating all this candy you are ruining all of your training! that struck home with me...So I'm not wiping it out...but I'm not going to gorge on it. This week was midterms week. It was the most stressful midterms I have had ever. Glad it is over. Moving forward.

Today is day one of no coke...lets see if I can make it the week!

OH my race time is sort of a guess. I forgot my Garmin...and at mile 3 she yelled out 26 something or another. Either way I think it is a PR for me...yippee!

People were actually complaining about the hills. I thought this was funny b/c I'm like really? You call those hills? ahahahha...I didn't say that out loud. I guess they found all the flat areas to run around here. Me, I like hills!

8:20 am run. 40 degrees. AP 10:21

My brain wanted the miles...but my legs did not want anything to do with speed. I was lucky to barely get 2 MP miles in.

I wanted to run 7 but then I remembered that I made an appointment for the husky to get a bath...OOPS! So I had to quick run home, shower and get her over there.

Happy running all!

P.S. I found out that I got 3rd place in my age division from yesterdays 5K. Now I wish I would have waited around!

6:15 am 52 degrees Average pace 10:50

This was a nice run. I decided not to run last night just to see how it would effect my long run. It was a smart choice. I tend to run the Wednesday night one faster than I should the day before a long run.

My only prob today is trying to get weather and clothes right. It was only 50...I work a short sleeve with tights. I wasn't how but the tights were just a smidge too much.

Then I had the reflective sash tht kept falling for the first mile (which is weird b/c I haven't had that problem) And of course my fuel belt was being a goob. I put my spi belt around it and it was better. I love my head light...I work my buff and I still couldn't feel it. Very comfy.

I got to listen to my fav morning show while running which helps. Also gives me a reason to wake up early so i can run and listen to it.

I also tried a hammer gel today. I know it is way to short of a distance to have one...but I think it gave me a little kick towards the end. Plus I didn't have that problem of feeling like I"m starving 7-8 miles into the run. Also I want to know which gel I like before I start packing on the miles. Any who...I have one more flavor to try. Raspberry will not be bought again. The gu's were okay but I thought I would try other stuff to see what is available.

Happy running all!

7:45 am 65 degrees-windy-rainy

I had the alarm for 6 but woke up at 5:30 and it was a downpour. I'm not super sure about running in the rain and the dark...sooo I slept in a little hoping to get some daylight. It worked out b/c it only rained a little during the run. Also I got to wear a skirt and short sleeve top. It is such a warm October! I'm sort of interested to see how my November 4 miler race is going to be. Will it be cold? or warm?

Safety question--I run on mostly streets---so I really hate when cars slow down to a halt to ask me a question. Is it rude that I just keep going? If i'm on the sidewalk I have no problem stopping and asnwering but when I'm so close to the car I don't feel comfortable. I feel like if I stop I'm asking to be abducted!

p.s. day 6 of no coke...feeling pretty good actually!
