9am run--sunny/overcast low 70's

Good run today. I saw another runner too! I did run in a sorta new area. That was a nice change.

I did some speed work. Sorta. I would run 10 minutes at sort of a slow pace and then sprint for 30 seconds. those times I was happy with. I wasn't too happy with my slower times.

That's a nice way to incorporate some speed work without over doing it. Don't worry about the pace on the slow parts.

Maybe since you run alone a lot, fartlek speedwork would be fun. You just pick a point (say, a mailbox or a phone pole or something), run faster to that point, the run easy until you are cooled down, and repeat. And, like Carolyn says, make the slower parts slow to recover. On the track, we made our fartlek speed intervals 30-45 seconds.

Thanks Carolyn for that. Means a lot.

Aunt--I shall try that. I was trying to keep the speed evenly spaced. But Sometimes I didn't need the whole 10 minutes to cool down. Aww speed work! So much fun!
