Too chilly in the a.m to run..I did some reading and then ran. I icy hot my knees last night and they felt like new this morning. Till about mile 3ish...there were hard hills...so i'm icy hotting again...any one know of any other icy hot like product that doesn't stink up the whole house?

I ran across the street at a 6:30 pace--i felt like a gazelle--a dying gazelle but still gazelle like. Atleast now I know my legs can move that fast...now I just have to get my lungs to agree with the pace and get my legs conditioned to keep that pace up! Okay I know I"m dreaming!

Oh yeah running seemed easier when I was concentrating on picking up my feet--but agin then they started moving faster buy my lungs were not in agreement..here are my splits

1-10:20

2-10:19

3-10:05 (surprising b/c of hills)

4-10:32

About the Madison Half...turns out my folks may or may not be able to watch the three dogs for the weekend if we went up there...so I have to find others to watch them or take them to the usual kennel(which only sucks b/c it is a little further south and we will be traveling north)

and lastly I need to come up with a training plan...grrr...i was going to use runners world's thing again but they only have me running 3 days aweek and I would like to stay at bare minimum 4 days...

Happy running!

Is the training program you found the same as this one?

http://www.furman.edu/first/fmtp.htm (Uh, I don't know how to make it a hyperlink).

It probably is, but one of the things that this training plan advocates is cross training on off days. But the first people they had that used this program mostly ran on their off days. You could always follow the training schedule and then add easy runs to it.

By the way, I read your blog occasionally, but I'm more of a lurker :)

And I'm your neighbor in Illinois!

Congratulations on the gazelle running.

As for icy hot type things. I've tried something with arnica in it. I can't remember the name right now and I'm at work so I can't go look at the tube.

Weird, Tracey, I can't even go to your profile!

I have not even seen that training program. I have the book The Complete Runners Handbook. I figured if I went back over it I would find something that would help me train. I think there is something about working backwards from race day in order to figure out mileage.

Carolyn-i got something from a race...a sample and now I can't remember what it was called...maybe we are thinking of the same thing...

And where are you in Illinois? I grew up there!

I just figured out that I have been signing the wrong name all this time. This should lead to my profile.

The thing that I find interesting about this program is that it's built around 3 specific and difficult training runs per week. And supposedly it gets results. I'm interested in it because I have limited time to train--I may try it for a half marathon this summer, but I'm not sure yet.

I'm now near Champaign, but I grew up in the burbs, the only real part of Illinois :)
