What a day...So I set out for 2 miles...came up short to 1.5. I ran with the yellow dog. He really liked it but my form is all off when I run with a dog. I think that is another reason I stopped doing it. Any who...i walked most of it. I felt like poop.

It was hard to wake up this morning at 6am...so i thought I would give myself some time to wake up. So I ate breakfast, did some homework, walked the dogs and was out the door by 8..Well apparently this was the wrong thing to do--first people are driving their kids to school so the driving is ridiculous. Second-I'm more awake and therefore think more and therefore my phantom pains came back. Then my mom called on the phone and this one leg pain twinge got worse. I'm going to call that leg pain from now on "mom" LOL any who..I was surprised I ran as far as I did (I wanted to do my usual 4.75)

I think tomorrow I will do a 3 miler b/c I would like to do a 6 miler maybe on Thursday or Friday. Or maybe tomorrow I will cross train...oh wait...my garmin is suppose to come today...i shall have to run! LOL!

Goal-try out Garmin on a run, Practice chi- running (pick up my feet) and chi hills

I can't say I slept very well last night. Thunderstorms were loud! I woke up atleast twice because of the house rattling!

Things I hate about the garmin--but I expect I will get use to this one. I do not like the band  for the watch. I did not notice it digging into my boney arm on my run but I did notice it when I was first put it on.

That is about it...everything else I love. I think it is so cool that i can tell my grade now on the runs (25 % was the highest) and my speed. I was very slow today. I at first had the watch moving between data fields...but I noticed that I hated that. I would look at my watch and couldn't tell if that was my pace, or the time or what. So I decided to just keep it at the one screen- pace, mileage, and grade.

I also turned the tone off. And I didn't feel the need to put the bezel on lock down. I had no problems with accidental touches. Maybe if it were raining I would?

And I love how easy it is to download my run. The watch literally just sits next to the computer. I was able to shower and eat and then come back and look at my garmin connect stuff. I purposely ran in the cemetery today just so I could get some extra squiggles on my map (i know i'm weird)

Okay enough about the 405--I love it and I'm glad I finally got it. (I haven't tried the heart rate monitor yet)

Okay so Chi-Running. I read the rest of the book last night. It annoyed me that the author decided to wait till the last parts of the book to say hey if you are feeling pain here you are probably doing this wrong, so now do this.

So I am attributing my shin and hamstring pain (hamstring pain came on when i started Chi-Running) to not picking up my feet and bringing my feet to far out from my body. Here is the weird thing-I tried picking up my feet and leaning...and I felt like I was going to fall down. I felt like I was using more energy..and honestly I felt like a nope. OH another thing he says later in the book is that you shouldn't start out on hills...well i have a lot of hill around here..and apparently you run differently when running up and down hills. Again why wait to tell me all this?

Today I felt like the up hill chi runing was successful, but down hill was not in that I felt like I was pounding too hard.

Tomorrow I think I will do laps around the park. I"m sure it is only 1//2 a mile long but it is flat and will give me a better gauge of what I am or am not doing when it comes to Chi Running.

Whew...this was very long...thanks for reading!

6:20am Pace 10:50

I ran 5 days this week! Must keep it up! Today I played with my watch and tried to focus on keeping my feet up when running and my knees down...felt weird...but the pains would go away when i did...but i felt more out of breath...

So I did a warm up and a cool down but here are my splits now that Sno told me how to make that part work

Mile 1: 11:22

Mile 2: 11:15
Mile 3: 10:02

See I knew I was getting faster over a period of time. When I was running with a group they would start out all fast (like 30 seconds above the pacing time) and then I woudl wonder why I was dying by the end...well guess what? it is b/c I am a slow starter but finish strong! LOL

any who i'm tickled I ran 5 days this week! tee hee

I'm trying to decided if I want to go drive 3 hours to Madison in August for the inaugural 1/2 marathon...sounds like it would be fun...and it would take place before fall semester starts back up...Plus it could serve as a mini gettaway...now what to do with all the dogs while we are gone!
