Could not sleep last night. Need more protein breakfasts. I had just oatmael for breakfast and was starving by like 10 (lunch isn't till 11:30)
Run was long today b/c mixed in some walking. about every 1 mile to 1/2 mile. I printed up a GallowayMARATHON training plan. I"m gonna 'start over' with week one maybe next week.
If I time it right with the one training plan I'll be able to do both races...I'm just gonna suck up having to walk...hey if if means I can run some then that is what I will do.

okay frb friends...I figured out how many weeks away my marathon and the 1/2 marathon is.
I could technically start an 18 week program up in about 2 weeks on january 31
Soooo should I take a week off to rest my it band? just do some walking?
or continue like i have this week and run 4-5 days for the week with low mileage (3-4 miles per run and walk at reg intervals)
the program has me doing 3 three mile runs and an hour of cardio/cross training for the first few weeks
Personally I think for the next few weeks I should chill out keep up with 3-4 miles for 4-5 days a week. Strength train and elliptical.
btw--i got home and it was snowing...but I ran anyway. Also i thought i twas impossible for it to snow if it was colder than 30? it is 20 right now with a wind chill of 14...what is up with that? |

I'm still around. I ran this afternoon 23 degrees. Felt great to run. For the next two weeks I'll be running 2-3 miles with hopefully a 5-6 miler in there somewhere. Just trying to be cautious.

Verrrry icy out. I almost fell like 5 times during my .5 walk with the dogs in the morning. And it was warm (30ish)
So I thought it might be better in the afternoon. Nope my car slide on the road. So I stayed in
I did Jillians Kickboxing and 1/2 of 30 day shred level 2 (Just pooped!)
1:10 plank (i think i'm regressing rather than progressing...bummer) I did tilt my tail bone in. I think that helped as far as form. I think I was subconsciously bowing my back thus causing some strain. YUCK.
Okay so new CANDY ATTACH PLAN. Since I can't full out say no. I am allowing myself 1-2 candy/sweets servings per day (today I went way over with 1 100grand bar (a mini one)--and 2 or 3 rice krispy treats while tutoring)
And if I go two weeks straight like this then I will buy myself a massage. I really need it. So I'm hoping that giving myself a little treat to look forward to will keep me going strong. | |

i think of so much to write in my blog while on my run. then I get infront of the computer and boom it is all gone.
I do have one thing-I only have one rice krispy treat today. YUM. I made chicken marsala for dinner and I"m so stuffed I just don't see myself eating my second serving of candy. I can almost feel my massage!

Went and saw a new band last night. It was awful. We usually see this other band but they aren't playing at the venue we go to till March. Epic fail! Next time we will just wait! LOL

I was up like a lightening bolt this morning. My brother had this deal that if I was up we would run 'together'. So we texted a little back and forth. Kinda cool to have a running buddy.
So I thought I was going super speedy. I felt great (the end kinda sucked) but then I looked at my watch and I averaged an 11 min mile. SUCK. oh well.

took my dogs for a .60 mile walk. The brown one limped the whole way but as soon as we got to our back yard she was chasing the others around like a mad woman. She has been walking on 3 legs for about 3-4 weeks now. I think it is hip dyslpasia/arthritis kicking in. |

Okay so for as far as training goes I'm doing okay. Tues and Thursday are my usuall days off and today I was going to make a x-training day. I shoveled. And I"m sure I will be shoveling some mroe since the snow has not stopped.

But I had my reasons. Snow is still a plenty so when cars are comings down the roads I had to move (usually there is grass/gravel for me to run in--now there is a wall of snow)
Also yesterdays work out was not a great idea before my long run. my pecs and abs and hammies are sore. A good sore mind you...but not how one would like to be before a long run.
so I'm hoping I can do my schedule as follows. Sun, Mon, Wednesday, Saturday--run. Tues, and Friday off. Thursday Cross train.
I was watching some scary Bob Harper videos (trainer from biggest loser) he has a trainer and they made some youtube videos. Today I did 2 reps of this (not for one minute)I just did the two reps of the push up part. But I thought adding in the side planks looks fun. i also throughly enjoyed Bob Harper saying holy crap. If they made a video together I would totally buy it. |

My bed was glorious this morning. Ya know when you just have the right spot and the right temp. Did not want to leave.
I ran this afternoon. -2 with windchill otherwise 12 degrees. I got out late b/c a co-worker/friend wanted to talk to me about my running (while i was in my running clothes and while I was telling her I like to go right after work now b/c the sun is still up) but she kept talking. Don't get me wrong-love her-but I wanted to get out there!
Running felt easy today and my pace improved too.
Paleo diet is going well. I still eat candy. But getting rid of the other stuff has seemed to make my mood better and a more even energy level. I"m digging it.
The best part of the day was watching an assembly called Silly Safari. He was awesome! Very entertaining. He came in with animals and taught us about them. It was pretty cool! |

I wanted to run on the bike trail but suprise suprise it isn't plowed. Not that that would matter b/c you can't get into the parking lot b/c of the snow. So I parked over by the gym (determined not to start my run at my house) That change was nice.
I almost fell on a patch of ice going down hill. I'm sure I looked very funny to the other cars as my arms flailed around to try to keep balance! LOL

Afternoon run. 50 degrees. Can we say --no jacket run? My feet hurt (like they were cramping) but I"m going to ignore it and pretend it never happened.
So I passed a walker today. I wish I would have thought about high fiving him before I passed him!
and then on the way home I cheered for a runner but I think she thought I was nuts so maybe I won't do that again especially while in a vehicle.

I think I ran four miles. I was going for 3 but was feeling okay except for crampy (ate too soon)
but Garmin decided to not show the mileage I ran. So i'm probably over but WHATEVER! I just even lookein garmin connect and the mileage is 0 but i ran for 26 minutes each way and then apparently it was at midite on the 23rd.

7:20 am AP 11:45 maybe? I forget. Fresh snow on the ground. 29 degrees.
I walked every mile or so for .05 to .10 miles. after about mile 6 I could feelt my ITB tighten up. So I stopped and stretched it. My run had hills in it. I think that is what did it. Up until now I have been trying to stay on flat ground. It is hard to plot out a route around here that is 9 miles that doens' thave hills. I would have gone on the bike path but I'm sure it wasn't plowed from when we got snow a few days ago.
At about mile 7.5 a guy starts honking at me! Offering me a ride! I'm like no thankyou old guy in a VAN! Scary! I could have been kidnapped today!
BTW...I got a job at the YMCA. Free membership! I start in April! Muahaha

I went to customer appreciation last night and got a new pair of shoes on sale. When I got home I realized they were my same riders only a different color! yah!
So funny thing about the education of America. Last night I asked for a pair of on sale shoes. The lady came out with the box and I asked how much are they. She takes a deep breath and says they were 100 but are now 30% off. I can't do that math.

I got Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown Level 1. I thought it was going to be more of a cardio yoga. I'm glad that it isn't. I can feel my arms are sore--but itwasn't hard moves. My only issue is I did the yoga in my basement on a mat so my wrists are sore. Next time I'll do it upstairs on the carpet.
I I have stuff missing between my vertebrae in my spin so some of the backwards camel stuff I couldn't do.

Last night it was 55 and gorgeous and an off day. today was uppers 20's WINDYand misty. Towards the end I swore I was getting hit with ice.
But I felt strong up till mile 7. That was about the time I went to my car to refil my water bottle. Off to a shower cuz I am COOOOOLLLDDD!
Oh I ran into a lot of people running cuz I drove to the bike path. Everyone was super nice. Except the last people I ran into. We had ended our run at the same time and they asked if I was done and asked how many I ran. I said 10. I don't wanna say that they rolled their eyes but they were all--Oh we did 15. I politely replied Oh are you training for something. Then they listed like 4 marathons. Including Chicago. Sorry I'm sure Chciago is cool and everything but just cuz you pay 140 bucks doesn't make you a bad ass. I finished stretching and wished them good luck. Their bright orange jackets were bothering me. |

I saw a dead possum all narly looking and a dead deer. Man she was tore up! I was only sure it was a deer when I saw a hoove!
This run was part of the course I will be running for my 1/2 in April. I was not happy to see that there is a hill at the end of the course. Not cool people!

So this is day two of me being serious with Paleo. last few weeks I have been playing around with food and I went back to feeling like poop and being on the toliet so I"m convinced. Paleo is better for me. I did have candy. Stupid teacher meetings. but all my other meals were paleo and I didn't have any tutoring snacks. |

I didn't sleep well last night. I went in the other bed to sleep and took the dogs with me. That helped. Also I was alway from this banging noise that was happening out side my bedroom window. What is up with that?
I ran after work with a friend it was fun to be able to talk. Then I got a tour of her house. Parts of it creepily reminded me of the lay out of my house so it was giving me some ideas for some make overs LOL |

| This one took me out. I think my head just wasn't in the game. I was thinking too much on how I'm not gonna PR this 1/2 that is coming up in 20 days (mostly b/c I was running on some of the course in the race) Everything seemed to be tight because of it. my entire right side seemed to be tense at one point. Really strange. Yoga is the plan for tomorrow. Today I will roll and try to forget about it. |

Went to a fun run race today. So fun! Such a supportive group. I started infront but eventually found my groove with the 9 minute pacer and it was a nice small group. Got to talk to one of the coaches.
60 degrees today! My last mile was 8:55 Muahahahha.
I'm convinced I need to do more speed work now. I feel awesome! |

Drove to the bike path. They extended it a little south. I don't know how far b/c there was this huge lake going over the path about 4 miles in so I turned around and went back to my car.
Here is the run down. I had a banana before I left the house. In my car I had some chia seeds and water. Ran 8 miles. Stopped at my car for a Froze bar (freebie from a race--but it was ymmy) and more chia seeds and a swig of powerade.
I was feeling really good but noticed I was running too fast (told myself no walking today) But my legs wouldn't listen so at about mile 9.75 I walked for a quater mile b/c the ITB stared to hurt. I stretched at mile 10 and felt fine for the rest.
I did take off my shoes when I had .5 left to go. It was too cold for that so I put them back on. But for the minute they were off my feet felt great (they seem to get charlie horses in the arch)
Very pleased with this run. so much so that I will list my splits

Is there a way to set up garmin to yell at you to go progressively faster so that you can make a timed goal for a certain distance? I don't want to be at consistant 10's cuz I know I start out at 11 and then progressively get faster.
Or is there something on the internet that can give me my splits that I would have to get to make a time goal? I'll just write it down if I need to.

Okay so I was already worried when I slept like a rock and didn't want to wake up. But I had to remind myself I have been running in the afternoons and I'm on spring break so 5:30 am hasn't been in my vocabulary.
Very cold and very windy. Reports of 35 mph winds. It was in the 40's so I shouldn't say it was very cold but the wind made it worse. I should say that where I was running is all country so there is no hiding from it.
Also if you can believe it is rolling hills. I think there were more ups than downs. I knew all this before going in.
It was the inaugural race but it was my 6th 1/2. Some commentary--more porta potties. Took me twenty minutes to wait in line. More water stations and at better intervals. Again it is all country roads so I'm sure they were working with what they could but more frequent water stops would have been nice. (I am glad I brought my one with me). There were no mile markers. NONE. What is up with that? Oh and I didn't hit start on Garmin right away so I was all messed up. Love the medal. It is shape of Indiana and the goodie bag was pretty sweet. Oh not a good idea to put the finish line at the exit where all the cars are trying to get out. This ended up not being that big of a deal but still a bad idea.
Okay on to me and how I did. I didn't PR. The clock said 2:14 when I passed it but I have no clue how accurate that is since I started my garmin late.
I don't think I"m injured. I don't think I have IT band pain. I just had such sore lower back/upper butt pain/soreness at the later part of the race. I'm not upset about not pring. It was a tough race with the wind and the hills.
I was so thankful for a friend. At mile 3.5 or so she took my gloves and hat. So nice to not have to carry those anymore!!! And I had another friend at the end with her daughter. They brought me candy. She is running her first half at Indy. I have got to think of something nice to get her for her first one.

So afterwork was suppose to go like this. Take dog to vet, start dinner, go for a run. It went more like this. Husky runs away and slip out of her collar as I'm leading her to the car. Other dog distracts me so that I do not notice that she is trying to get out of the collar. I take off my heals and put on my running shoes (still in work clothes) and get into car to look for her.
Bystander with dog says, "she is over there!" to which husky sees me and runs in other direction. I continue to run for one mile. Finally more men stop in their car and call her over. she goes over there and they stop her. She does not listen to women. They let me borrow a rope b/c I forgot her leash in the car. They continue to follow me all the while saying they are not creepy stalkers. While I assure them that my intention was not to take their rope.
Nice stalker men wait for me at my car one mile later. Husband calls I give round about location. He drives by to give stalker men a look of deathand to resuce me in case I should be kidnapped and murdered (later I found out he was worried about his dog and not me...sigh) got dog back in car. Drive home to get her water and me a change of clothes (yeah 60's!) b/c I was dripping wet.
Took dog to vet. Now 100 dollars poorer. Although now while I"m cooking dinner I have to go to walmart to pick up dog prescription. Can you believe that one you can get dog prescriptions at walmart (if they can be injested by people) and two at the vet they wanted 47 bucks and at walmart they want 8. Yeah! two pills twice a day. The vet tells me oh you can just wrap it in cheese. Yeah she eats around the cheese. She is 11 years old and has learned a trick or two.

| alarm went off at 5 and I said 5 more minutes. It turned into 30 minutes. it was humid slightly so it was hard to breath. I got to wear shorts no gloves today. Dog walk afterwards. I cut it short b/c there were others out with their dogs and for some reason that pisses off my boy dog.

| It was humid/chilly but comfy weather for a run. I love my a.m. workouts. I was actually up at 4:45 this morning to try to get it in. (I was gonna go for 6 but was running short on time) Dogs got a walk and I got breakfast. Just curious those of you that work with females mostly is it overly dramatical? I would say 10 % of the place I work is acting ridiculous. I'm trying not to get sucked in but it just makes me so pissed off. Most days I can just call them crazy and move on but this week has just the last straw. I went home and ate like a fat kid last night (twinkies and cake and soda-first one in a while) so I just wonder how the rest of you deal with stupid heads. I took my dog for a walk later and that helped. I just wish I would have thought of it before the twinkies attacked me!

OUCH!
So last night my left shoulder was hurting. It still hurts even through the night. It is not an I hurt it hurt maybe over did it.
On todays run my heel hurt. And it hurt more and more on my run. I cut it slightly short. I thought maybe walking would help but I ended up cutting the dog walk short too.
We are dog sitting so now I had 4 dogs on my walk. Eventually that went well but I think I may split them and do two walks. That is if my heel stops hurting.
I rolled out my back and my legs. Heel is still troublesome. I want to run tomorrow (first 5 day week in a while) . |

waah norunning or walking. I'm gonna try walking in the afternoon. I hope. I got to grocery shop first. I'm wearing flip flops today so I"m hoping that will help. And why is it when you are hurt people ask "What is wrong?" "Oh my foot hurts" "Is it from running?" and maybe it is just me but they all just look for reasons to not run and me being hurt is perfect. So I just laughed it off and the girl this morning no I"m serious I want to know. I was talking over my injury with my brother and he said that maybe I was running my intervals too fast and that is why my foot hurts. He said, "April if you are running your easy runs at 11 min you can't do your intervals at 8:30" I"m like but I thought I was suppose to go all out for those 30 seconds. I'm such a nube when it comes to speed training. So I guess my intervals will now be 10 min ones as soon as my foot feels better. I hope to run tomorrow then I could still get in 5 days!

I don't know what is up with my foot. it hurts on the lateral sides of my achilles. It really sucks to flex my foot. Hot and cold soaks are not helping. Stretching sucks butt. It semi loosens as the day progresses (not really). At any rate looks like I will be out of commission for a few. Not cool b/c stress is getting to me.
So I'm going to tell of you so you can keep me honest. Today is also the day where I"m going to start my own 30 day challenge of no sugar, soda, or glutin (does horrible things to my belly but I keep eating it like an idiot). This is in an effort to feel better, possibley losing some weight (but I'm not holding my breath on that one)
I was doing good last week until some stress came along yesterday and I downed 2 sodas and pasta. I know not horrid but it wasn't pretty this morning. I haven't had candy in over a week so I should be good about that. I have been getting REALLy good at saying no at work. As a teacher there seems to be food around ALL the time!

and OMG my principal just came in here. I'm not telling any one but you guys cuz you won't tell and asking me a billion times. I have an interview next Tuesday with both principals in the district I'm working. They are thinking 1st or 2nd grade. Which doesn't make me super happy b/c I would like a higher grade level. But I keep getting the lower grades (student teaching, the job I have now) so I guess at some point it is meant to be.

45 min on elliptical. I konked out early last night for a glorious 9 hours of sleep. Wearing my Merrels all day today. My foot still feels like poopy. People keep talking about orthodics to me and I'm just not gonna do that. Or inserts. I'm trying to go the barefoot route or atleast just regular shoes. Don't believe in them! The doc better have a better 'plan' for me. Btw this is day 6 of no glutin and no soda. Yesterday I had chocolate and some gummy bears. But I also didn't exercise. So I guess I have to exercise every day to keep those cravings at bay.

2 mile walk in my mizunos. The cushion does make it feel better. I wonder if I can get a way with wearing running shoes to work...hmmm. and then .9 in the merrells. those felt okay. Everything just feels super tight in the achilles heel area. I am totally lost on how to fix it and who (dr wise) to see about it.
I know now I'm getting a little made that I can't run (60's today and perfect for a run)> I saw another runner and she yelled good morning and I yelled "I wish I could be doing that" I did try to run. But the pain shoots then. That is awesomeness! The lady said, "Atleast you are doing something." Yeah yeah said the lady that is running. :( I guess depending on what time I get home from tutoring I may ride my bike. The ellip is getting BORING with a capital B. Went to doc. Basically I walk funny. That is the short of it. The long of it is that my ankle apparently doesn't go forward enough when I walk so that makes my foot compensate by twisting outward or inward (can't remember).
Since this guy isn't on my insurance I'm going to research to see if I can find exercises (of course he wouldn't tell me the exercises) that I can do. My podiatry appointment isn't till next tuesday. Sucks!
He says that explains my callus on the inside of my big toes. so really I don't feel like I"m any more educated on what is going on than I was this morning when I woke up. |

Loves waiting 30 minutes to talk to a doc for 1 min only to have to wait 10 for xray to wait another 15 for an ultrasound. Only to be told I have a bone spur and tendonitis. RICE it here is some Celebrex prescription which I later found out was 75 dollars for the prescription. yeah motrin willl just have to be good enough. I get to know where a splint while sleeping and resting and NO RUNNING. Can I have a break? |

| WHAT IS THAT? DO i SEE A THREE MILER FOR MEEEEEE??? hahaha. My achilles was feeling pretty good just puttering around the house. so instead of the 20 mile bike ride (10 to the library and 10 back) I decided I would run. foot started to hurt real bad at first but after about a mile or so it felt okay. At some parts it didn't hurt at all. I came home and iced it and took some motrin. This morning I was woken up with the ankle biter next door barking his head off. I went outside and attempted to throw a treat to him. but I missed and it landed in between our fences (dont worry the husky dug it out and got to it). I went back inside for another treat. That made him happy. People you can't leave your dog outside barking his head off for 20 minutes if it is before 6:30 in the morning. I hate my neighbors...they are idiots! |

Today I printed a training schedule for the 1/2 in November. 18 weeks away. I'm a little upset that it only goes up to mileage for the week of 19. But maybe that is a good thing? The race is nice and flat so that shouldn't bug the IT (if that decides to rear up again) or the achilles. I"m just not sure of how 'careful' to be. I feel like I"m going backwards. Most of the traininng is only 3 days a week (with cross training) but I know me and I hate x-training. Thoughs? I printed this up from RW site. Maybe I should change it from moderate to something else. Or just every week add in an extra 2 or 3 miler? then atleast I would have 4 days. Help! |

I really like running with my one friend we always stick to a consistant pace. I'm not sure how she does it but I"m good with it.

| I put inserts in the shoes. Didn't really notice adifference. Still hurt for the first mile or so. I also did push-ups, abs, and squats before hoping that would loosen things up. Walked the dogs, iced the achilles, took some motrin. |

| I went to bed with a huge headache. Thank goodness I didn't wake up with it. 2 miles in the hot hot heat. I woke up early so I would miss the 7am heat adivsory that will be over at 4am friday. wuteva! Boob sweat wasn't a huge issue without a shirt on. That was nice. 1.25 mile walk with the dogs heel/toe walk before and after. 40 push ups. planks left and right and regular. 50 squats. today the achilles felt super. Even when I hopped out of bed today it didn't feel all tight like normal. So I will keep on doing what I have been doing! yeah! |

I work in a small town. This lady that subs in my building and does real estate had a family member die in Iraq/afganistan/war. He died saving others. He was 22 and just got married in September. I can't stop crying. The wake is monday and I hope I can keep it together. I don't know if it is that I was in the Navy and that is what creates this bond that I can't seem to ignore but there is nothing like it. |

level 2 30ds and a dog walk.
My nose is all messed up. After the dog the walk I saw some mold in the basement so I had to bleach the crap out of that. While I was doing that I was washing the dog bed in the washer. The water started spitting out (sometimes does that with the overload) so I had to clean all that up. Lucky for me it was in the moldy area.
I have today and tomorrow off to do whatever. I better take advantage b/c thurs and friday I will be in boring orientation meetings. How do they get away with not paying you for those days is beyond me...must be the free lunch...turds. Oh wait I have been setting up my class for the last two weeks for free too. LOL...I'm a glutton for punishment. |

Speed work. I was supposed to do 2 1600 at 9 min pace.
I ended up with 9:45 and 9:59.
I"m know that I was not going to be able to get up to a 9 min pace. but I thought 10 was more doable. Not that I know what I"m doing with this b/c honestly I barely looked at my watch. It was driving me nuts b/c it looked like I was at around 11 pace. I think I have it on average pace. maybe I need to change it to real time.
I did the intervals more by feel than anything.
On a side note at the beginning of my run I saw a kid waiting for the school bus. In the area I live they started school today. So he looke MISERABLE--so in my most cheerful voice I said "First day of school, YEAH!" I know my eyes aren't that good but I know he rolled his eyes at me, but atleast he smiled as he said, "Yeah right" hahahaha
Then when I was walking my dogs I saw a lady roller blading. I had to ask her if they hurt her feet. Whenever I rollerbladed the vibrations from the street would kill my feet. She said she had the same problem so she tried to stick to the side walk. |

I was just thinking about my dog walks. I see a lot of people. I wonder what happened to the extremely tall man that was always bundled up and always looked angry.
The skinny old lady never used to say hi to me. Now she does. And my neighbor who walks like 2 inches and hour has this old raspy voice. He doesn't really say hi to me. Just my doggies. I admire his tenacity to keep walking. And he is always looking for stuff in the park. I"m not sure what though.

Humid! Where did my taste of fall go? Waaah! Hard to breath and my gait felt all off.

UPDATE-FIL is being transferred back up to NWI. He will stay at a rehab facility right near our house for about a month so we are pretty excited. Hubs can visit him on the way home from work tonight. Since he moved to his g/f's house we don't see much of him. He lives about 45ish minutes away where as he used to be 5 mins away. |

I ran my last mile at 10:09. Average pace was 10:34. I'm pretty happy with this run. I REALLY needed it. I had my SIL, her hubby and two boys staying with us this weekend. I haven't ran since wednesday. Friday morning I was lazy and Friday night was like 100 degrees. Then family came in and it all went down hill.
Now everyone is gone. I hve my house back and I'm chilling while drinking some coffee and enjoying the 50 or 60 degree weather.
btw I got to try out my new jacket. LOVE IT! it has thumb holes and hand warmers and some pockets. I had to take it off after 1.5 miles but still! |

My attempt at speed again. I warmed up for a mile. Did a 10 min mile did a slow mile then did a 9:45 mile.
That last mile I really tried to get down to 9:30.
My achilles is doing well. there is still a twinge there but I feel like it is getting better.
Im still wearing the inserts and doing heal toe walking before and after my run.

My bday weekend and night (last night) was great. The hubs got me a DQ cake. it is going to take forever to eat! I got flowers from his work. Over the weekend we BBQ with my family, I ran and shopped with a friend. My bro came in from out of state. Hubs and I went clay target shooting on Sunday and he cleaned my gun last night. We had to try out my new clay target thrower. LOVE IT! Can't ask for much more than that! |

Ran with my reg running buddy and she brought one more. We were nervous adding someone into our routine but it went really well. She has ran half marathons in the past but not for a while. Right now she is a xtrain coach so she only runs 3-4 miles so we were nervous when she was all about an 8 miler. It was great b/c we kept up with about a 10:30 average. Which is fast for me for a long run. But usually I'm by myself and I think I stop and walk or slow down a lot. yeah "group" runs! Also she is a middle school science teacher so she was giving me these ideas for science stuff for my kids (we both agreed it isn't taught enough before the grade 4) I'm hoping to change that in my first grade room.
Also we were supposed to run 8. I had the Garmin and I swear the miles were just slipping away. I got confused and thought we had another mile to go. I guess running with the right people is a good thing. I"m so glad I found the right people!

progressive run. 40 degrees. I wear a buff around my ears to keep the wind out. And I now believe that this looks stupid. The buff is too big. I'll keep it for over the mouth and neck gear for the colder weather. But for now I need something else to cover my ears. And not ear muffs.

my legs were tired. Operation learning Spanish is back on. I"m using Pimseleurs b/c it is free at the library. If anyone has a bootleg copy of Rosetta let me know. You are doing it for the kids. I have a Mexican student. I can't say that she knows Spanish but she doesn't know English. And neither do her parents which is who I REALLY want to be able to communicate with. I called them a few weeks ago and it was such broken Spanish on my part. I hope she appreciates me trying since she couldn't speak a lick of English!

I had a cavity filled on Wednesday. Yesterday as the day progressed I felt yuck. Throat felt scratchy and I went to bed at 630pm and didn't wake up really till this morning.
So I have a tenawesome scheduled for tomorrow. My entire body is tired and my back feels achy. Should I try it? or just do 8? I need guidance b/c as of now it isn't in my chest just in my head but I feel weak. | |

at mile 4 I took some Gu and after mile 8 I saw they started a 15 mile bike ride on the path and a 2mile walk or 5k run so I had some company to show off too. The last two miles felt hard. I"m guess b/c of the mixture of cold air in my lungs and still being semi sick. Kinda proud of this run though b/c I did it by myself and I am sick.
Today was the ribbon cutting of the new bike trail. I'm depressed. I thought it ran into the other long bike trail. Turns out it just gives me 2 miles on a nice safe bike trail. the other miles were on the roads as usual. |

Yeah! A friend of mine and I ran 8 before the race. we ran around my neighborhood and then ran the mile to the race. She was super nervous and now that the race is over I think she wishes she would not have ran the 7 before. but my goals was to do my 5k under 30 (not break my old record b/c it was unreasonable for my fitness right now) and to do my long run. I like this race b/c they give you sandwiches and bagels and fruit afterwards. Plus the money goes to the trouble teen high school and boy do they need it! The tshirt sucks so I didn't get it this time.

Windy!!!!
Yes sooo much wind! I was blowing into my friends! This is a small race of 700ish people. I was happy to do it. Achilles was tight till mile 3ish then loosened. They ran out of water or paper cups at the 6 mile marker and the next stop wasn't till after 8. I find this funny b/c the race director told me to bring water to the other half I did this year b/c she though that race director prob wouldn't have enough. Pot calling the kettle black eh?
So I was very thirsty for a bit. I made head bands for our crew of three. We all stayed together for the first 5 but I think we started out too fast. Jen left me at 11.5. So for the most part I had someone to run with at this race. I think I need new shoes. I could feel ever rock and my feet are achy.
I wanna say it was 55 or 60 degrees. But the wind mad it feel cold. So it was hard to dress for this one. I did pour water on my head for a few of the stops b/c I felt hot but then the wind came and my fingers were cold!
I"m trying to think of how I want to play out the winter. I think I need to do more crosstraining in general. I may take off from formal training with long runs etc till maybe January or February. Maybe that will help with my training and doing better in the half. I really would like a sub two half. That is my goal. If not for the wind that might have happened by 30 seconds or so.
Hubby was at the finish line. I love how supportive he is.
Inside they had chilli and we all agreed the smell made us want to puke. I was not impressed. I did get to try my first County Line donut. EVERYONE talks about them. I'm not a HUGE donut fan but these were okay. I'm sure the glutin in it will make me regret having them.
The tshirts are pretty sweet. I got a small one and it wicks and it is black. I like the ones that are different colors. The medal was cool to but that was all we got. But for a 35 dollar race what more can you ask for?

They were both equally yummy. His sister and her husband left this morning. I have to say this was probably the least stressed I have been for Thanksgiving :) |

I didn't think I was going to warm up. But I did. So I guess I finally got my clothes down. Not too hot, not too cold. Then I walked the dogs and did some plank and stretching stuff.
If someone smarter than me could please explain AYP to me (annual yearly progress). We didn't make it last year, BUT we had the highest scores in the district. And the other schools made it. Um our scores were already high...how can you measure someone on their progress when they are already at the tops? I mean seriously! And I think we didn't make it b/c of special ed. Um them are special ed. We adjust things all day long for them and then we want them to pass the same test as everyone else. Seriously what is going on here? DUMB! And I should add that the one school did not make AYP two years in a row. So now they did. Well of course! Now they are doing better! They progressed more b/c they weren't doing so well before! Grrr! |

| I discovered that I have doggie poo on my other running shoes. Not cool! Ran this one with a friend and our pacing was all over the place b/c we had to walk/jog some b/c we both had to go number 1 and I had to number2. hahha But it was a nice run despite that. Then we went to the FIVE BELOW store. Like a dollar store only everything is under 5. It was pretty cool. I got a doggie calendar. |

| Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown. I will now call JMYM b/c the former is way to long to write. I'm thinking about a marathon. Trail marathons keep appealing to me. But since I don't train on trails and there are no trails around her for me to train on. I am unsure. Also this time I have a friend willing to run it with me. Well we decided it would be okay to walk this one. If it was a trail I would feel even more comfortable with this. The other option is to run one of the big marathon races around here, Chicago, Indy, Madison, or Detroit. after a 1.5ish mile warm up I did some hill intervals. AP 12:00 (sloow, but felt good) intervals: 9:06, 10:47, 10:54, 10:10. So those really sucked...I was trying to not go all out but it appears I didn't go fast enough!

I ran up 4 hills. They were steep so I didn't feel like doing hill intervals. They were all different hills. I think I will run that hill I did last week (only faster this time).

AP 10:42 55 degrees...Yup I got to wear capris and only one layer today. This morning I told myself "Yeah you get to run and wear capris!" so that is how I rolled my happy butt out of bed at 5:05 a.m.
so I have to tell you about the people I see on my dog walks. And I have passed them for well over a year now so I feel like I know them well LOL enough to give them nicknames atleast.
Overly dressed Tae Kwon Do (sp?) guy-he is ALWAYS wearing something over his face, a huge parka with the hood up. And he walks very slow and doesn't move his arms much. He always walks in the street when the dogs and I walk by. Even if I try to move over. So I finally just stopped worrying about it. Lately I have caught him doing this Tai Chi Tae Kwon Do moves in the basketball court. I'm not sure if that is really what it is called. He is just doing those slow moves you always see on tv when people wake up really early in the morning.
Woman who runs with dog that Blaze hates-Blaze REALLY hates this dog. I'm not sure if he is just jealous b/c the dog gets to run and Blaze isn't. Today I didn't want to deal with it so I turned around to walk in the other direction. Well she ran passed me anyway. Grrr! Blaze barks his head off and sometimes Lu joins in. And Sable pulls on a normal day. So three dogs pulling just gives me the kind of arm workout that I don't want at 6 a.m.! She probably thinks I'm an idiot b/c I'm usually in running clothes when she sees me and prob wonders why I wear these clothes 'just' to walk in. Little does she know that I ran before that. HAHHAHA. So that makes me cooler.
Little white ankle biter dog-As I was turning around to avoid WWRWDTBH the owners of the LWABD ran out so then it was double duty of barking and pulling and me yelling and then Blaze looking at me with his big brown eyes "I'm protecting you!" in all seriousness if any of these dogs walked into my house he would roll over and let them lick him and they would play.
So I know you are jealous...but this is my life between the hours of 5 and 6:20. Fun times eh?
There have been other people but usually they are just summer outdoor people.

23 ish degrees. Went through Lake in the Hills subdivision. I didn't run up the big hill. Just stayed on the walking path and went around the lake(pond) and watched the geese. I have never seen so many in the water! I was supposed to run with my running partner yesterday but she never told me 7am was a good time so I went back to sleep. My sinuses filled up and I was just done for the day. We decided to paint the computer room. and by we I mean I helped move all the furniture out and pick out paint and now the hubs is going to paint.
I hope to run 10 miles next weekend and then keep that up for a bit.
Notes to self-yoga on Mondays and long runs on Sundays seem to REALLY be helping. Today nothing hurt. B/c I'm off for winter break I may run before yoga tomorrow. We shall see. I still have the heel inserts in my shoes but I don't always wear them. I don't wear the splint at night anymore. But when I do I feel 100% in the morning. I only everyonce in a while feel an IT band twing but I think the yoga and leg stuff is helping with that. Off to soak in the tub. ps...burt kicks butt in words with friends :) |

My legs felt pretty good before my run so I decided to push it a little with some speed. I walked the dogs before this run. I would love to tell you my splits but my garmin and garmin connect are not cooperating. I know my last mile was a 9:16.
We finished repainting the office. I love it! I just washed the curtains and moved the furniture back in. We took the over sized desk and put it in the basement. Looks great with the TV. Now I kinda wish our basement was finished. Now we have to go out and buy a smaller desk for the office.
Did I mention that it is ridiculously warm out? 54 degrees. Oh yes I wore shorts!

On the dog walk I realized they were knocking down the church. It was already falling apart. But seriously why don't people just keep up with the maintenence of stuff? The new one was already built...but still. Stinks. Probably become a parking lot. We shall see.
This elderly couple moved in 2 houses down from us. In the spring the guy walked all slow. Today I saw him (he walks later in the day so I don't get to see him if I'm working)and he is walking pretty fast now! Everytime he would pass us before he would say 'doggies' lol...so he just sort of reminds me of my dad and Gpa (deceased).
I was up late again...Knitting and watching reruns of Friends. I love winter break!

37 degrees? I can't remember.
Shh don't tell anyone (don't wanna jinx it) I started marathon training today. 21 weeks give or take. There are a few that I have on my radar. I don't think I have to pay till April (they are all in May). I know I have said several times that I want to do one. But a quote really struck home with me today. Said something about most people fail or don't even start a huge task b/c they look at where they need to be instead of how far they have come. So for right now I'm not going to panic about those 9 milers I will have to do during the middle of the week. Somehow I will fit them in but I'll worry about that later :)

I could not get moving today! I have decided I'm going to run Schaumberg Marathon. I think. LOL. I just can't decide! But seriously I have till January 31 and the price goes up. I wanna make sure that I will wake up at 4:30 am to do my runs and all that junk before I pay for it.
10:45 AP today 30 something degrees. The nice thing about the purple jacket and my turquoise one is that I can wear tshirts underneath and still be warm.

Well this lady had her turn signal on so I waited my turn and crossed the street. Well guess what? She changed her mind and decided to go straight toward me! Nice huh? Well after she almost killed me she raised her one hand in frustration. Um helloo! get off your phone and concentrate on what your car is signaling to other people! MORON! hahah
also I had to text some people. Greg's uncle got some cancer taken out this morning and the surgery went well :)

I did my entire workout in my pjs. Muah! Including walking the dogs. Usually it is very dark when I do this. I did wake up to an alarm today! 7:15! how am I going to do 5? hahaha The beeping seems to help more than the radio alarm.
JM Cardio kickbox and then I did some Kettlebell exercises 15lbs
Sumo Squat upright row and bridge pullover- did 2 sets of 15 on these. The squat was easy. Bridge pullover was a little awkward.
then I did swings (squat with kb to the ground and raise body and kettle bell over head), and a v crunch with kettlebell rotation. I did 2 sets of 15 with the swings and 2 sets of 30 with the v crunch. I'm pretty sure I did 60 on the second set b/c I started counting only when I swang to my right instead of with each rotation. |

Yup almost fell after my 4 mile run. The sidewalks iced over so I ran in the street. The dogs were only able to get a little walk in the streets but that seemed to be enough. I knew one of them would pull me down and then it would be by by April.
I did speed today. Well my version of it. I was supposed to do 1600 x2 at 9:04

I probably did 9.5. My Garmin died at about 9.25. Most of my miles that I looked at were at about 11:20. I tried to hurry up the last two b/c that is when Garmin started warning me that it was about to die. I also thought it was going to rain the entire time. It wasn't too bad.
My mileage is going to look all wonky this week and next. I'm gonna look like I ran too much this week and not enough next b/c I had to switch my usual long run day from Sunday to today. I'm going to a NYE party Saturday. I will be surrounded by friends but there is this one chic that I really don't care for. So two things could happen--I will get rip roaring drunk to deal with her and or to be able to say later hey I was drunk and that is why I pushed you off the ledge ( hahha) or I will leave early with the hubby.
I wanted to stay home but the girls that are my friends said they would round house kick me. They don't care for her either. So why or why was she invited? Her hubby is actually pretty awesome is friends and works with my hubby. Also she is the SIL of the other two that are there. Also I work with her. So yes she is in many of my circles. I hped b/c she is just sooo cool that she would find some where else to hang out. Sigh.
Today I get to meet up my BFF from kindergarten. She has 5 kids and I hardly get to see her! I also get to go shop with another friend for our NYE ugly Christmas sweaters. We also do a white elephant gift for NYE. Which is basically any crap you have gotten through the year that you don't want any more. It is pretty hilarious! |
