I woke up at7 hoping to get in a long run. It was -4 at the time...a few hours later it went to -11. Now it is too late to go (I have to work at night) and it is still below zero. I worked out on my elliptical for 35 minutes...or 8 miles ....hahahah...I wish I was that fast on the ground! and I did some yoga to stretch. I hope the weather gets better.
I think I"m going to have to run in the afternoons starting on Monday due to the weather doesn't look like it is going to get any warmer. I like winter...but this is ridiculous!

-8 at 9am...I guess i will go grocery shopping and see what the weather is like after that...It will probably be another elliptical day. I hope this weather gets warmer soon and doesn't continue into February. That is when my real training begins. At least now I know what to blame when I have a horrible marathon experiance--January! LOL

30 minutes=8 miles on the elliptical. 10-15 % incline (I changed it 10 minutes in)

3:50pm run 7 degrees with the windchill. The wind hurt when I was running to the west. I definitely could have put on some different or another layer on. I need to figure out the leg thing. I wear a pair of pants with fleece and shorts over them b/c my butt tends to get cold the quickest.
My IT band started to hurt...grrr...felt great for the last few days. Oh well. So I yelled at it and ran faster. I stretched a lot.
I think I will like running at night. I came home and right away changed into running clothes. When I got home I made dinner.
NRR-first day of student teaching. I love how organized my teacher is. Most of her lessons are written either by Saxon Math or some other program so it seems that all i have to do is put it in the format my university wants it in. I don't want to say it is going to be easy but it is definitely not reinventing the wheel. Oh and smartboards are soo cool! |

I don't like this winter running. My knee hurt again. I hate this...It was bothersome during the day but it was mostly if I was sitting funny.

5pm run 7 with the windchill. I almost sat this one out. Just wasn't feeling it. But then I told myself that I would be done by 6 and to just do it. I was going to do the elliptical or a video. But tomorrow there will be a snow storm so I"m sure there will be plenty of time to do those things.
I ran on flat terrain today. Knee still hurts. Took a hot bath and stretched.
I'm goign to look into that tape stuff.
I decided I love/hate night runs. I like them b/c once i'm done I can shower and get in my pjs. This makes stretching easier and more likely to happen (in the a.m. runs I would get into jeans after a shower and stretching seldom happened) I also like it b/c dinner is afterwards. And the dogs are already walked in the morning so I don't have to worry about that either.
I do not like that there are sooo many cars on my usual routes. I'm trying to think of new routes that are less conjested. But besides running in neighborhoods (which I"m not a fan of) I don't know where to go. It is just so dangerous.
I got to teach two lessons today. And participate in a meeting and yell at kids. LOL...I got to intro the students to the wonderful world of cursive! muah! |

Instead of running today I shoveled the drive way. If I would have left it the way it was we would have had the 2-4 inches that were on their plus whatever falls tonight. Plus all the snow at the end of the drive from the plow. I never would have gotten out tomorrow!
Now i'm eating cookies guilt free b/c I"m stressing. I don't know who to contact in order to sign my progress report for GRADUATION! (advisor is sort of fired and the replacements are passing the buck). And I"m suppose to turn in ALL my transcripts...which angers me b/c the websites are letting me access them and two b/c I have turned in my stupid transcripts when I started going there! Why can't I just turn in the new stuff???
Oh and it is all due on Jan 19th...grrr...no pressure! | |

30 minutes on Elliptical 6 of those minutes were backwards. The first 22 minutes were at a 20 % incline
2 minutes of crunches, lunges, squats, bicep/tri stuff, and a whole lotta stretching. No knee pain during this.
My head is conjested, it is that time of the month, and I just don't wanna anymore. End tantrum. I feel better now LOL

It is suppose to warm up by WEdnesday. I'm super happy about Saturday...I hope to get in a good 8-10 miles and it is suppose to be over 30...hopefully there is no windchill!

I did a 'Crunch' Bootcamp video-30 minutes. Kind of lame. Now I remember why it has dust on it.
I hate the warm up--very hard for uncoordinated April to follow. It is a good video for weights and doing jumping jacks. So we shall count this as my weights for the week. It is above 20 today but I still figure I would give my leg another day of rest. Tmorrow I will definitely be out there!
Today I had my first observation and I did so well! I'm so glad! My supervisor said she likes my demeanor and she said I"m a natural. Yes I was beaming. It was funny b/c after my cooperating teacher left the room she said, "Now you are working with a perfectionist. That is bad for you." I quickly interuppted and said how happy I am that she is the way she is. I love that she gives me feed back and that she is not passive at all about telling me when I'm doing something right or wrong. I'm a perfectionist so her perfectionism puts me at ease. LOL

5 pm run. 25 degrees with the windchill.
I'm feeling some back muscle tiredness from yesterday and I love it! Makes me feel like I actually did something.
I had a huge headache and still do after work/school today. So I came home and had a bagel and went to the computer store to get advice about the puter (won't get the part in until fridayish)
So then I finally ran even though my head hurt. Run was going good until I started getting pain. But on ravelry I remembered a few sayings that some of the girls had said in their heads so I said it. "Oh hell pain, can you call back later after my run is done? Thanks, I'm sorta busy." Or something like that. the IT band was not as bad as it has been. and it didn't hurt the entire time. I did get a shooting pain in my foot that made me skip and yelp but I kept on running. I am now rolling it out with my foot roller thingy.
Well school is super busy...I am finding I have less and less down time which I do not like. There is alwasy something to do. I'm really trying to orchestrate my schedule-homework, house cleaning, laundry, dinner, running, dogs, boyfriend (not in order of importance) and free time? time to just say blah...Haven't figured that out. This week I'm doing a load or two of laundry a day and hoping that helps. Then by the weekend all I have to do is clean the house.
Well that being said I must get to papers and lessons!

2:40pm run 34 degrees NO WIND CHILL!
I wore a sleeve ace wrap thingy around my knee today. I felt some twinging going on the last mile but not anything that made me stop and walk. It is definitely not comfy to wear. I am going to try again tomorrow with the KT Tape and hope that stays on!
My teacher let me leave early today so I could go to the University and get my grad stuff turned in. Which left me enough time to go to the vet and pick up meds, go to the library to pikc up Marathoning for Mortals (I finally figured out interlibrary loan! so I have more running books available to me) When will I read it? Well we shall see!
I have tons of things to write up. I hope to get a long run in tomorrow and the rest of my homework! I"m crossing my fingers! LOL |

9:20 am 24 degree. Average pace 10:20 There wasn't a wind chill when I started but I could feel it. When I got home I checked the weather and it is 29 with 21 degrees as the wind chill. I wore my committment skirt over my pants. This was great b/c I had those two big pockets for my water bottles. I hate the fuel belt around my belly so this worked out well. Plus I only drank about 6 oz and a sip of the other bottle.
I have a question about GU and marthon training. For 1/2 marathon training I don't even use them. But I have been bringing them along (I didn't eat one today) just to taste them and see which ones I like. At what point should I eat one during my marathon training? Right now I feel my mileage is too low to bother. Usually I will jsut take a gulp of one and save it for next week or something. Again that was just to try it to see if I like them.
I KT taped my leg up two hours before the run. I alcoholed my leg before applying . It is falling off right now...but I think I was having placement issues and parts of the tap split down the middle. Bla blah blah.
This was a weird run so I will just tell my splits and tell you what went on during them
1:10:43 afterthis mile I wanted to cut off my leg 2:11:44 I started walking after every mile 3:11:31 4:10:34 stretching and walking 5: 10:52 Hit the midway point and was feeling better about only having to go another 4.5 6:10:04--I thought duh...why am I not Chi Running 7:9:14 and then I started thinking of Haikus 8:9:42 thought man I should probably slow down 9: 9:28 thought if I make it home by 11 I can start back on homework again. So I sped back up.
My knee really hurts Marathon training is hard Chi Run realy works!
My knee still hurt during chi running. But it was different. Like it was a better hurt. Not a worrisome one.
I was a little worried about this week. I only got 18 running miles in but i did do 2 sessions on the elliptical and weight video. So really I worked out 6 days this week. I think if I counted 3 miles per elliptical seesion then I would have 24 miles this week.
I'm going to go soak in the tub and read...Happy running! and I hope all did well on their races today! I thougth about you when I was out there! |

My brother made me some mix cds with some pumping music. I probably could have stayed on for anotehr 10 minutes but I wanted to get some weights and lunges in before having to bog down with homework. I got a little nap in before ....today was mind draining at work and the 30 minute pick me up helped! a lot!
I did one set of the matrix and some arm stuff.
It is freezing rain so I stayed indoors.

I keep waking up at like 4:30 in the morning and then going to bed. Maybe next week I can start actually waking up and going for a run. I hope it stays warm.

And I have a lot of work to do this week. and I want to put in an 8-10 miler. Was I insane to think that I could train for a MARATHON and student teach? yeesh. I think for now I will save the marathons for the summer time and keep my 1/2s for the spring... |

And to be completely contradictory...I think my SO is going to run a 5k with me. Well we may actually end up walking it. He doesn't run and he is a smoker. We shall see. He has a part time job as the bowling alley mechanic and he texted me saying he ran the length of the bowling alley and was out of breath. So cute...hahaha |

Okay besides the wind this would have been a nice day to run. but i"m having some pain. I hate this! It feels just fine when I walk. It feels achy if I sit for too long (especially indian style)
Maybe it was the 10 miler yesterday? I was reading that ITband issues are from over training. I think I'm under training! I mean come on! So I'm not really sure where to go from there.
Once I"m done with homework I"m going to search the web..and check back here so if you have suggestions post them!
So far I am taking hot baths...stretching. wearing the knee ace wrap thing, cross training on the elliptical. And actually after a few days of doing that I have an okay run day. but then any days after that stink. So maybe I should be alternating ellip and running days? |

WARNING--I MAYBE A BIT SARCASTIC AND WHINEY-I came to the realization today that I need to do what I need to do in order to be happy. Otherwise I go completely insane and get pretty annoyed/angry for no real reason.
Today I decided I was going to stay at school finish up the lesson plan and then go home. Work out, feed the dogs, make dinner, take a shower. The yesterday me, would have rushed home to be with a guy that isn't that interested in her that close to coming home (needs alone time), says he will feed the dogs...then doesn't...then said dogs get all kooky b/c they are hungry and of course they bug me for food. My lesson still does not get written, and I have rushed my work out b/c dinner has to be on the table by a time that was totally made up in my head. Then I go to bed angry. The dogs dn't get taken out at prescribed time and so therefore one has to go to the bathroom at 5 in the morning (one hour before I need to be awake), she paces until I do get up to let her out b/c boyfriend doesn't wake up for anything.
So...first scenario is in affect tonight. I hope to get more sleep. B/c the way the SO doesn't it just doesn't work for me. I think the one dog is getting old and just can't hold it...so I need to take her out right before bed. SO feels that he should take her out when ever it is conveniant for him and b/c I was PO'd last night I went to be early...but never actually got the benefit of the extra sleep!
All that being said...I get a letter in the mail from some lawyer saying they want their money. Apparently they are trying to collect taxes from when I lived in Virginia. Only I dind't live in VA the year they are trying to collect on. VA charges you taxes on your vehicle just b/c you have it in their state. So I'm trying to get paperwork or something to prove. Plus they added 5 % tax onto that. Gotta love the government!
And I realized I"m eating WAAAAAY too much food. I dn't have a scale...but I feel FAT!
Work out went well. Leg felt great today. Today is a regular cross training day...plus it got super cold out and it was snowing so I stayed in doors. Whew.. | |

Another night of not being able to sleep...my head hurts now...so I laid down and played with the dogs when I got hometoday...I started to feel better...but now I'm back to working on a lesson plan and I feel like my head is going to explode. My teacher put it well, "Teachers think ALL day long" so maybe i"m just exercising my brain a lot...maybe too much.

5:10am run -2 with the windchill 13 mph winds
I feel great. Yes my IT band is a little bothersome...but not bad. I did some walking. Also did some research to see where I might have gone wrong.
Running on the slanted roads. I have been running this same route at night. Well I"m forced to basically have one foot in the dirt and one on the road. I maybe guiltly of going too fast. My easy pace is 11...I think I have been going 10 (before I was hurt). Today I ran in the middle of the road when there were no cars. Which is pretty easy to do when it is 5 am. I also was pretty consistant 10:45 pace. Also, I have been wearing my knee brace.
Now if I don't get a headache today that just tells me that waking up at 5 is the thing I need to do. And I woke up pretty naturally. WEll I woke up at midnite thinking OMG it is only midnite?? LOL

I'm late in putting this in. Crazy day. I did not bring the garmin with me today so I have no splits. This was a 1/2 smiley face run. My leg wasn't unbearable but it wasn't perfect either.
Two creepy things happened. Usually there are no walkers on the road. and I keep hearing about attacks...so when I saw someone walking towards me I crossed the street and ran on the other sid for a bit. Then as I was going up a hill a car slowed down and stopped. Again pitch black! It was my uncle. He wanted to make sure I was okay. I"m like um please don't stop all creeplily like that! I started walking and I guess he wanted to make sure I was okay. Where was he on Saturday for my 8 miler??? LOL |

6:20 pm 11 minutes on the elliptical. Don't laugh...The SO tore the house up and the living room is taped up...He was sanding in prepartion of paint. The dogs were put in the basement with me and the one kept crying. I couldn't take it. So I finished up with the matrix and some ab stuff.
The alarm went off this morning at 5am. and I reset it for 6am, I was just too worn from yesterday and just decided to take advantage of being on a 4 days a week for running. | |

5:00am run 11 degrees with the windchill
I got new shoes. I had to try them out. I bought two of the riders. So HOpefully I won't have to buy new shoes for the next 6-12 months. I still have some gas left on the precisions I think and the ST3. So these may go back in the box till I really need them. We'll see. I"m not really good about deciding if I like a shoe. these didn't hurt my feet so I guess I will keep them.

These runs seem hardly worth the effort of getting all bundled up. I keep repeating in my head--even low miles does a body/mind good. Stretching before the run helped. I didn't get any twinges till about 2.3 mark...and then I stopped and stretched. I felt it again about about mile 3... |

Day off...it is snowing! Like crazy! This should be an interesting long run tomorrrow...
I'm listening to a book in CD called 50 marathons in 50 days. It may just have 50/50 on the cover. Not sure. Any who it is pretty interesting. Also I'm reading Your Performing Edge. I like all the talk about positive self talk. A lot of it can be applied to real life in general. Also it is a good book if you have an injury and you are acting all Debbie Downer on yourself.
Also, SO finished the livingroom. It was 3 year project in the making. He finally finished the painting and it looks INCREDIBLE!

8:00am run. I think it was 10 with the windchill. This run would have been awesome if not for the peanut butter prerun (what was I thinking?) and the wind while running north and east.
Ignoring those two things this was a good run. There were a lot of hills! I ran a new route. Usually I take this route home when I coming from the University and I have always wanted to run it. Not sure why it has taken me so long. I looked at garmin connect and it said elevation gain was 574ft. I'm not sure what that means? I just wanted to see how hilly it was??
Okay and my IT band hurt. Even the butt part of the band was nagging me a little. No problem. I stopped and stretched. And pretty much had a schedule of walking every mile for .05 miles. Sometimes I walked more frequently due to the hills. For some reason my breathing was off. No biggie.
So while running east for a stretch it was terrible wind! Did I mention we got 2-4 inches of snow last nigh ttoo? So I"m going through all the wind and snow. I swear I was running in place when I hear a guy yell out "Dedication!" I"m like yeah!!!! So for the next quarter mile i'm singing my little Navy Motivation, Dedication song in my head. It irked me a bit to be short on the ten miler...but come on those hills and wind were tough! Here are my splits...

My easy pace is an 11 minute mile. Not too shabby.

7:30am run 12 degrees
I had to walk a lot today..and therefore I was cold...I'm having a discouraging day about my IT band.
Like should I stop running for a few days? Or should I take tomorrow off and ellip for a few days? I'm not sure where to go from here. Running two days in a row was definitely not a good idea. I want to keep up with my long runs. I can handle missing the full marathon. Or even bumping it down to a 1/2...but I realllllly want to do Indy. And I know I can do that mileage. ..but at what price? I need advice on where to go from here.
UPDATE: I miss yoga! I did 20 minutes of it today and I could hardly keep up! It was tough but felt sooo great! |

5am elliptical.
I can't fit into my jeans...grrr...sooo that stinks a lot. and I know why...my eating meals time has changed in the last month and the quantity of food has not changed. I use to eat at 3pm for dinner and go to work. Now I eat at 6 and pretty much sit on my butt and do homework. The only real physical activity i partake in is running. Teaching is not a physical job. It is mentally exhausting. So I'm trying to think of other things I can do at night to get my heart moving...I wish there were mountains around here. I would take up skiiing! LOL
I just ate breakfast and hour ago and I"m hungry again. I hate my stomach! I need to trick it some how! LOL
I thought I was going to do an everyother day of running and elliptical. Due to weather conditions (12 inches of snow in the next 24 hours) I think I will stay inside and ellip. My IT Band doesn't feel yuck on the ellip. I'm stretching and doing strength exercises.

I did some of the Jillian Michaels DVD Kickboxing about 30 minutes. I skipped the cool down. And then did another 20 of yoga. This one is really tough. I looked at the description again and it is for intermediate. I'm like Yeah I probably could have finished it no problem a few years ago. So I"m on the hunt for another video on demand. I found one that is for runners. But I find the lady annoying and the beginners ones are lame!
Last night I FINALLY got a foam roller. I have to say it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would . I even rolled on my back and my quads. my IT band rolling hurt just as much on my right side as it did on the left. So either they both are messed up or I"m catching them in time? I dunno...b/c it really did not hurt (a girl at work said i would cry). I only did a few minutes, maybe that is why?
I was hoping for a snow day to catch up on school work. NO such luck. My university is closed...but not the elementary school. Figures! | |

4:45 wake up...9 degrees. out the door by 5
This run was cold. But my ITB didn't start to bug until about 2 miles in. Which is longer time than usual. And it didn't hurt too bad until mile 4. But by then I was almost done.
I came home--stretched, ate oatmael, shower, rolled my ITB, and soon I will be out the door.
I"m seriously considering doing 2 hours on the ellip tomorrow. That way i can get '10' miles in. I will definitely have to get that tv working if i'm going to do that. |

9:00am elliptical. I wanted to do a full 2 hours but by ellip started to shake or jolt weirdly after about80 minutes. So I braved it out till 90. My ellip only does up tto 45 minute increments. I hope I didn't kill it. SO is going to look into it for me.
but on the bright side now that i'm done my legs feel great. Plus I got to watch an amazin movie! Invincible. If you are a Mark Wahlberg fan it is a must see...but I am a sucker for him and underdogs rising to the top movies.

10am race start
My fiancee and I ran this one together. He is not a runner. I think he wanted to sign up to be sweet for V-day. And it was. When he needed to walk we held hands. It was cute. He ran straight for the first mile. It had a few pretty steep hills. It was kinda nice to have some one that I care so much about to run with.
Then he became a buttface and ran ahead of me at the last few hundred feet. Once he crossed the finish line (I was directly behind him) he turned and said , "Ha ha, I beat you." And now is telling all of our friends. I thought he was speeding ahead b/c as soon as he was done he wanted to go back outside to have a cigarette.
Next time I will leave him at the starting line--he can eat my dust. HAHAHAHA
Friends of our joined as a couple team and got 3rd place. NOw I want to see how we rank but they haven't posted the times yet. Also, I messed up and didn't hit stop on the Garmin. We started in the back of the pack sto 35 is only a guess b/c that is what the timer said when we ran up to it.

I re found a running route. I use to run this route often but stopped in preference for the more hillier routes. So I figure I would run this one. My ITB didn't start to bother me till mile 4. I'm very happy with this.
I'm off to rolling,stretching and then shopping/errands with my brother as soon as he shows up!
My SO bought me this gorgeous bag for school/work. So professional. He finally told me what he would like so I"m going to go pick that up. |

5 am ellip and 20 minutes of yoga
I almost didn't wake up this morning. I just did not want to get out of bed. Weird b/c I went to be early and I got almost 8 hours of sleep. I still feel a little sleepy.
I think maybe I just don't want to go to work/school today b/c there is going to be a sub today and tomorrow...The kids act differently with the sub. I hope she isn't the one we had the last time. I would say no and the kids went to her b/c she would say yes. And she saw me say no. Which irritated me a lot!
Atleast today is a 1/2 day for the kids. Which makes it crazier. I have to shove all this stuff into the same 45 minute time frame! Yuck! | |

5:05 am 29 degrees 22 with the windchill
Lately it seems that 7-8 hours of sleep is too much for me. Last night I laid in bed at 9;30 but didn't fall asleep till about 10:30...and then I was up before the alarm at 4:30. But I didn't get out of bed till 4:45. Weird?
Today's run was pretty good. A little ITB pain but not bad.
Should I be rolling and then stretching? Or stretching then rolling.
I remembered mid run that I didn't roll last night. OOps!
So I know that I went to a bridal fair last night and all but...I swear this wedding/reception is going to end up being in a VFW with lots beer and chicken. LOL and GREAT music. That is my dream...I think that way it won't break the bank. I went with a friend to the fair and she told me she spent 15,000 on her wedding. Greg and I definitely do not want to do that.
We want to move into a new home next spring, and go to Hawaii next summer.
if I had my way we would get married and go to a nice dinner with parents and close friends and then go dancing. Got to have dancing.
any who I'm glad I ran 6 today b/c I definitely overdid it on the candy and stuff. Last night was free pie night at Bakers Square. That was a mistake!

Scheduled day off. I feel all bloated...I won a basket full of chocolates at that bridal fair...and then there is v-day chocolates in my teachers desk. I'm like grrr1 and I put pretzels in there so I wouldn't eat the chocolate. Now I just eat both.

9am ish run. 30 degrees there was a windchill but not sure what it was now. Maybe 25
I told myself that if I was hurting at mile 2.5 I would turn around and go back home and finish up on the elliptical. Well the pain didn't come till about mile 8. And really it wasn't pain it was more of a tightness in my ITB. I could feel it all along my leg.
I came home stretched, rolled, hot bath.
Note to self--do not roll in front of fiancee. he will stare! LOL
I would show my splits but I downloaded and now garminconnect isn't showing a run since Feb 6. I Do think that I ran this one faster than I ran that one on Feb 6 (9.66 miles)

Fiancee and I decided to start on the kitchen. We got most of the walls sanded down (there was a weird texture on it). Hopefully tomorrow he can finish and start painting this week!

5am run. 30 degrees..nice light snow. I like snow when there is no breeze. Nice and peaceful.
Some ITB tightness/bothersomeness but seems the day off and ellip day has helped.
I was thinking my first 1/2 I only ran 3 days a week. And technically that is what I'm doing now b/c of my ITB. So I think I should be okay as long as I keep uping my miles and my crosstraining. right? I should be okay?
I am hoping that at some point I don't have to ellip as much...
Today is the day of the schools Black History Program. School rehearsal didn't go too well yesterday. So we practiced our part in the gym in the afternoon. That time went much better. I think they were nervous and then we added in microphones. Also, I will be very happy to be able to stop practicing this thing. I will be even happier when ISAT testing is over (my district does a thing called SAT 10 for second graders) it is sort of a prep for them. It doesn't count toward state funding but it does prepare them for 3rd grade when it DOES count. |

30 minutes of weights and stretching and 36 minutes of elliptical with Bruce Willis
I think I can get this weight (not fitting in my jeans) stuff under control if I continue with no soda (I'm allowing one per week on Friday or Saturday). I honestly don't even crave it. I think it is b/c if I want one I know I have to wait till Friday. It has gotten rid of that all or nothing mentality.
Also, I'm going to be more diligent about weights. It feels soooo good! I miss it.
This week I"m going to focus on my posture. i have caught myself in the mirror while teaching and I"m all miss slouchy. That is fine for the bar (well not really--but needs to happen) but not for teaching. Looks terrible!
Kitchen is still tore up. But we are done will all sanding so I starting the clean up yesterday. Dust is everywhere...wella thin layer. I would have hated to see what it would have looked like had we not taped off the kitchen doors. Hopefully paint will go up today. Thank goodness I have a luncheon today. I didn't have to try to make my lunch over plastic (all the cabinets and counters are covered)
in other wonderful news...My fiancee bowled his first 300 last night! I wish I could have been there but I was home cleaning all the mess. And my phone died so I never even got his text. It was funny how confused he was as to why I never texted him back last night. I"m so proud of him. BTW he is an awesome bowler, has several 299 under is belt (he has issues with the ten pin)

7:00am run in Illinios with my brother. AP 11:40. felt like 7 degrees
We tried to run on the trails but we couldn't find the rest of them and kept feelign like we were going in circles. And the snow hadn't really melts so we said forget it and ran the grid. And I mean but this is is Chicagoland area is like a grid well we just kept running up and down the blocks in a snake like fashion. Got to see my grandpa's old house and how much it has changed and some other hang outs. What was most amazing was my old elementary school. They are doubling its size and they are astill working on it.
We tried to do 13 miles today but we were both pooped and i have a feeling Jeremy was mad at me b/c I told him we had to do atleast over 12! I think someone isn't keeping up with his mileage...that and most of his runs are on the TM. I imagine switching to outside has to be tough LOL

This run was AWESOME! I"m putting a big 'ol smiley face on my paper calendar! I just felt so great and I kept running and running. I wanted to do 7 and I felt like I actually could with out stopping. So cool!

Another great run. I had a few twinges but other than that I felt great.
Rolled my leg/calves and foot...
Yesterday I got a lot done or found out about the wedding. I was suppose to be doing homework. But wedding plans kept coming to my head. I knew I would get almost obsessive about this and that is why I kept telling people I wasn't planning it yet. But Now that I have a date (oct 2) I'm all feeling like I have to book stuff.
So I have the venue, the food, rental stuff. My fiancee is in charge of the DJ and we are still working on the photographer (family friend may do it but can't get a hold of him to see if he is free that day). I still need a cake, a dress, centerpieces, wedding band for the new hubby, favors. But most of that can wait till this summer. AFTER I graduate. LOL |

I slept in until about 6:30. Let the dogs out, ate, did homework, some laundry. Took a 1/2 hour nap AND then started running at 9. 11:27 average pace. My calves now feel like big ol knots.
The first few miles flew by...garmin was beeping and I was woo hoo. I think it helps that at the beginning of my run it was 30 degrees and by the end it was aobut 45. I had too many clothes on. So by mile 1 I was taking off hat and gloves and stuffing them into the buff. Which btw acts as a great place to put all those items. I took a thing of water and one with powerade and one gu.
I used the gu around mile 10.5. I"m not really sure what the gu is suppose to do but I was dead by about 13...my legs felt like knots. Not painful...just tired and knotty. so i'm grateful it wasn't OMG my legs are goign to fall off pain. Very little ITB bothersomeness. I stretched it out at about mile 7 and felt fine as far as the ITB goes. I"m glad spring seems to finally be here andthat the sun is out. It makes training sooo much easier.
and now for a nap...

up at 6:30 a.m. Did some homework...well lots of homework. I finished my thematic unit. I think that was the last big project of the semester. I have a few smaller ones left. Just glad that was is off my back.
Didn't run till about 11am. I took the yellow dog. 48 degrees. I almost wore just my skirt but decided at the last minute to put on pants underneath. I"m glad I did. There was a slight wind that just stunk. The run kinda hurt, in a sore way. I was suppose to do 7 but when it started to rain a cold rain (and me without a jacket) i said screw it and just went home. I ran a little fast my average pace was 10:30. I should be at around 11.
Plan for the rest of the day is to encourage fiancee through more of the kitchen project (he has three more weeks to fnish it before we have family over for palm sunday). And I will knit and read this new book my mom let me borrow months ago called the Demon by Tosca Lee. I"m only in the first chapter but it is pretty good so far! |

I found one of my books on exercising. I'm going to start following its one month plan for the abs and follow some of the upper body strength exercises.
I have to have some sort of plan otherwise I just end up doing hammer curls and pushups. so this breaks it up. I like it b/c it has stuff for the ball, the gym (i have a semi at home gym) and just free weights. It is one of the self magazine books. I ignore all the talk part b/c it has stupid girly myths that I can't believe some girls still believe (ie if I work on my arms I'll look like a line backer)

| 5a.m. It rained on and off..and I had to do a few costume changes. coat on, coat off, buff on my ears buff off....kind of annoying. and now I'm running behind in my morning...sort of. My teacher is getting on my nerves and there hasn't been much for me to do in the morning so I think being a little later than normal won't be too big of an issue. Plus today is pajama day! Yippee! |

5:20 I slept in a bit. Just did not want to wake up to the elliptical today. I did weights for my vain arms and abs first b/c I didn't want an excuse to skip it. So instead I skipped the last mile on the ellip.
So the next two weekends I"m having a tough time trying to figure out when I"m going to fit in my long run. This weekend that goodness is my light week so it is only a 10 miler. I may do it tomorrow night OR at 5 am on Saturday (usually I wait a bit). The SO is on midnights Fri and Satur and then I have a friend coming over on Saturday.
Next weekend we are giong to Evansville for a bowling tournament. The SO seems uneasy about me running down there. Soooo I may have to do my long run 16 miles when i get home sunday....YUCK!...I"m hoping that the hotel has a treadmill...maybe I can get in my usual sunday shorter run in on saturday...or maybe i could do it friday...who knew this would be sooo difficult! | |

4 am run. I was determined to get done by 7...so I had to wake up a little earlier. I made it by about 10 minutes before 7
My garmin died sometime after mile 11.75...and I say that b/c I did one loop of 8.5 miles went home, switched the laundry, got more water, and got the yellow dog and went back out to do and out and back of 3.75. it died sometime after that 3.75. Garmin must not have been connected well to the charger b/c i did get it from the charger.
Any who...I will try to remember to update with atleast my average pace. For now I have to make sure the house is some what clean. My friend and her baby are coming over. SO is cleaning up the kitchen (rennovation is still going on but he he cleaning up tools he doesn't need for the rest of the job)
Oh I ran 16 this weekend so that next weekend I will run a 10 mile long run. So I switched my long runs. I won't be too broke up if I end up skipping the 10 miler all together but i'm pretty sure I can get it in before work on Friday.
I realized on this run that with in 1.5 miles of my house there are cows! My dog didn't know what to think. It was pretty funny! |

5am run 36 degrees.
I thought it was safe to go with a short sleeve under my jacket. It was chilly for the first few minutes.
So I think the eillip is dead. It keeps rocking and now I see comments about it that it does wobble after a while. It is a scary wobble. Not sure how to fix it. I contacted customer service and they wanted to know what surface i had it on. I"m like freaking pillows...okay really it is concrete..but seriously what kind of question is that? just goes to show that there are people that would put it on pillows and then complain about it wobbling.
So I'm not sure what to do with it now. And I have to say I'm pissed about the waist of money! |

I"m going to assume after not running for two days, drinking, icecream and all the othe crap I ate this weekend (we were really good with meals though--had a lot of subway) and now I have a sinus conjestion...that this is why I felt like poop. Well my legs felt like poop...my shins. I did try to run this route that I use to run with the group when I was trying that out. and during the entire time my shins hurt when I ran with them. I think it is all mental so I try to stay away but I wanted to try it. At any rate. I may try for 4 more tonight or just coutn this as my 4 miler for the week. No biggie. |

I'm skipping todays run as well. my head just feels sooo blah...and my throat. There are times while I'm teaching where I feel faint. I would hate to actually faint during a run. Am I being ababy?
Any who I was suppose to be up to 40 miles this week. First time ever! Looks lik it isn't going ot happen. I hope I wil be able to get in 8 tomorrow and 4 friday and 17 on Saturday. That way I will only be skipping one run.

5 a.m. 18 with the windchill. I'm not sure what is going on with Garmin. I know from proven fact of running this one route that at this one point I should have been at about 2.3 miles. This morning I was at 1.8. And I remember thinking at .56 "What that is it?" So I mapmyrun.com my run this morning and sure enough garmin was off by 1/2 a mile. I wanted to do 8 today but felt frustrated b/c I thought I was just running really slow and didn't think I would make it home on time. In fact I just looked at my laps and garmin said my first mile was 18 minutes! No way!!!! I didn't even walk!
at any rate Yeah I ran today!
I forgot to mention the quad exercise-only 30 seconds and my wimpy pushups...I may do some lifting this afternoon. I wanted to go for a bike ride but it still soo chilly! |

10:30 am bike ride. I went 6.59 miles but i'm only counting it as 4 b/c that is what I need for mileage. Plus it took me 45 minutes to complete...LOTS OF WIND and up hills. And I needed to fillt he air in my tires. It was soo much easier to peddle when that was done!
126 bpm, 8.7 mph, and I think I worked off about 3 reeces cups that I ate this morning. I have to check the calories on the package again.
I weighed myself at a friends last night. I'm up to 153 lbs and 23 percent body fat. I really need to stop eating junk. But it is weird I really like being at his weight. I just hate that I bought skinny clothes and can't wear some of them! LOL atleast when you get skinny you can still wear the big girl clothes! hahahha
Oh and my spirits are feeling better. IT B is still a little wonky which is why I chose to bike 4 instead of running it.

Today I have an interview for a new serving job for the summer. I hope to work there and the other restaurant over the summer till I find a teaching job. I thought I'd be able to relax for te summer and maybe not work weekends. Looks like that is not going to happen! |

I swear I was in bed by 9:30 last night. But then I couldn't sleep. So I checked my email and then my fiancee said I hadddd to look at something. ANTS! in the dinning room. I guess they found some remnants of Easter dinner in the crack of the table (where the glass meets wood). Well he can't drive anywhere so i had to drive to walmart in my pjs to get ant killer. I dn't see any this morning thank goodness. but after that I couldn't even sleep. I scheduled too much for today without realizing it. I have an interview at 3:30 and before that I"m being observed for basically the last time. She will be here for 2 hours. And I'm taking a risk by having part of that time is me teaching the kids how to make salsa and my CT has the strawberry smoothie aka daquiri group (I"m doing hispanic heritage unit).

3:30 pm workout...soo much rain. My friend lemme go to her gym with her. I ran and she sorta did (is trying to get back into running) same with her boyfriend. So for atleast the first 2 miles I had people to talk to. The last mile I kicked it up to a 9:22 mile and the last .25 I did 8:30. I think I like speed work on the TM
Oh and I wanted to add that one of my students loves to hang all over me and I don't mind it. Today she is hanging on my arm and says Ya know what I like best about you? and she pokes at my arms--your muscles. So I couldn't show it but that made me all Yippee...Cuz ya know kids don't lie...so I guess i'm doing something right! |

longest mileage in one day EVER!!!
okay so i'm pooped. I will keep this shortish. I was doing good till about mile 9...started to get some twinges. Well maybe that was about mile 7.5 b/c I did some side lunges to loosen things up. by mile 12 13 and 14.5 I was walking mostly. Not too badly. I told myself through the whole run if I run till the next mile I can walk, drink, stretch whatev for .10 miles. Mile 10 I had a gu. This routine worked well to mile 12....by mile 15 I was back on track. and then by mile 18 my ITB was screaming and my legs were screaming. And I was out of water! yikes! the run started in the 40s by tthe time I was done it was 72ish. GARMIN said I finished in about 3:40 but I was out there for about 3:50 (garmin has automatic start stop for lights and stretching). I think this isreally good and is making me believe more and more that I can do a marathon!
Okay well the hot bath felt good. I hope I didn't over do my smoothie. I mixed chia seeds, protein powder, banana, strawkiwi yogurt, ice and some water...YUM!
Well now off for a nap and some TV. We have company coming over so I have to rest up before 6! |

BTW I am going to be tracking my eating till the end of April. I will make slight changes here and there along the way but I really want to right now pay attention to what is going on.
I should also mention that my energy levels went WAAAAY down after lunch. I was sooo yawny. But I felt like it was a pretty good lunch?

| 7:30 p.m. run with a friend..very nice run with my new friend. she is a 5k runner. She was a track all star back in h.s. (is now 30) and is trying to get back into running and only wants to do short distances. I don't blame her. We had a slow pace but I hardly notice b/c we talked and laughed so hard during the run. She thought maybe she was holding me back and I was like no way! I have been having so many negative thoughts about my running lately that this was such a nice reprieve. If I were doing an 11:30 mile on my own I would get pissed at myself and start walking b/c I would have that why bother attititude. Then we ruined all the healthly benies of a good run and had waaay to much mexican food and guacamole! soooo yummmy! I"m getting excited about Race to Wrigley next weekend. My brother got the shirt already and it has the cubby logo on it! It will definitely be my new fav shirt! |

| I think I need a break from running. I could not get out of the door today. I drove 90 minutes to my bro's work (he has a trail near work) so we could run 20 miles. As you can see I didn't make it. My ITB started hurting and I erred on the side of caution. I'm not sure what to do about the darn thing. I can't seem to run more than 6 with out it hurting. I'm very close to quiting marathon training....very very close. |

3 p.m. run
I love running with my new friend. She said she may go as high as a 6 miler with me. We were running an 11 minute pace. She felt like she was dying but I felt great. Well my ITB did start to feel ew after 4.5...but everything else was cool. I think we are going to run tomorrow. I don't know what I will do after I'm done with student teaching. She will still be a perm sub at the school and I will be working after 3p..stinks!
I did 4 sets of 15 pushups when I got home
Today is day one of my lower carb diet. My goal is to stay under 150 g of carbs and up my protein. I have a LONG way to go with the protein. Today I had to have a protein shake just to up the protein. did you know ther is like 33 g of carbs in bananas! Wow! I would eat two or three in a day on some days.
I'm doing this for some weight loss benies but mostly b/c i'm tired of my moods being so up and down. I have been reading that if you have a low carb diet then your glucose levels are more level and not so up and down. |

Last week of Student Teaching!
8 a.m. start. My brother and I did a mile warm up around Wrigleyville. It was chilly but I'm glad I left my coat in the car. I was hot by the end of the race. In fact I wished I had taken off my pants (wore shorts underneath). I had to get up at 4 am to meet up my brother so we could drive to the northside together. I am tired. And of course I never sleep the night before a race. But the t-shirt was totally worth it!
According to Garmin I pr'd by 1:30 from my last 5k. Official results will be out tomorrow.

My goal was to beat my last time of 27:30 and to make 8:50's. I did both. Just as long as Garmin is right.
Great race-Guess a few days off really helped. Towards the end I could feels some twinges in my ITB. I may ellip tomorrow and do more strength training.
I started training today at my new job. I liked it. toda we talked about the menu and got a general tour of the place. Tomorrow we taste wines and the other mixed drinks. I"m pretty excited about this place. I was also a good girl and took my test at my current job so that they don't get all mad at me and tell my new boss (drama). Pluse I"m finding it will take about two weeks for me to get my training done at the new place. soo I might as well keep the other job for now.

5:40p.m. run AP 12 min
This run was fine until I got this overwelming urge to go number two...with no bathrooms in site. It was horrid. I had to keep on stopping to walk in order to not go to the bathroom.
My ITB did hurt but that was the least of my worries. I got home by 9.45 miles went to the bathroom and went back out again. |

Nice run...off to subbing! yeah I have a job for subbing for almost everday this week! Today is a 1/2 day and then I'm off to bartending!
I filled out an app for Hammond, IN last night. Apparently 80 teachers are retireing so they need teachers. I just got a confirmation that they want me to fill out a sub app. Unfortunatley you have to give them 29 bucks to do a background check. Totally stinks b/c I had to do that in the district i'm in. I just don't understand why I have to pay 29 bucks for each school district. So I may not do that one since it seems the district I'm in is going to keep me pretty busy for the rest of the school year. |

No, I will not be running the Marathon next month. I'm either not going to run or I'm going to try to switch to the 1/2. My ITB hurts and it started hurting at mile 4. And I didn't meet my time goal of under 2 hours :(
But let me talk about the things I did like about this race. I got an awesome hat, awesome matching tech long sleeve shirt and it was very organized at the packet pickup. And the medal is freaking cool! My fiancee wants to steal it! It looks kinda like the motor speedway and the necklace part is checkered. My brother was there with me at the start and left me! He finished 1:57.
What I did not like was the amount of people that were there. OMG! I wanted to die. I felt like I was in a grocery store. Indy had a good system for the corrals. Your corral was actually placed on your running number...BUT you have to tell the truth when signing up. I'm sorry there is no way some of these walkers should have been ahead of me. So mad. Then some runners would slowly cut you off. I"m like hello! Just do it quick and go away so I don't step all over your heals!
I was really surprised with the amount of walkers. I"m mean good for them. But stay in the back! The indy mini does a lap around the 500 race track. OMG that was the longest 2.5 miles of my life. It is basically the mid point by the time you get there. I got some cool pics (I sorta gave up on my goal once my ITB started to hurt and people continuted to walk around me) with my camera phone. I just have to send them to someone so they can email them to me(I don't have a cord to connect my phone to the computer) Coming out of the track was a bottle neck b/c they had more water and we all had to funnel into a smaller street...kinda not cool again with the walkers!
There were lots of water stations! Sooo many! I swear they were more frequent than every mile.
Oh did I mention it was sooooo windy! and we didn't get to the start line till about 20 minutes after the first corral! The clock at mile one said 28 minutes! OMG!
Well I'm going to go to sleep and enjoy the rest of the weekend and try to decide what to do about my training for the rest of the month. I hope my brother still runs the full. I would love to cheer him on...but I just won't make it.

7:15 run. 72 degrees 96 % humidity. End of run was about 78 degrees 70% humidity but feels like 80
Gross...Legs felt good. No ITB issues just felt a little tired. I attribute that to squats and lunges. My breathing was off though. I had to keep walking b/c of side stitches. HOpefully I will get used to the weather and that will remedy itself! |

about an hour of bike riding. some times fast sometimes not.
The ride actually stressed me out jsut b/c of how people drive. When I run on the streets I can run in the ditch or grass. Not so much with a bike.

I have to admit that I walked a lot of this. But not b/c of pain. My friend called and we gabbed. I ran maybe the first and last miles. NO PAIN. I figure I will baby my legs till race day. Then I will hurt like heck again but then it is recovering mode.

feels hot. I know it is 68 when I started and 73 when I ended but that is still hot.
Good run today. No pain!
I did a mini physical fitness test on myself (navy style) I failed miserabley by my old strength standards. I used to be able to do 100 situps in 2 minutes with time to spare (100 is maxed out) and like 40 pushups. today I gave up at 73 sit ups and 10 man pushups and another 20 girly pushups. I did okay on the run portion. I could have been speedier..but considering the heat I will give myself a break.
i think from now on I will test myself maybe every two weeks. It may give me the motivation to be more consistant with my strength training. It is funny b/c before I used to only do yoga and push ups now I vary my routine a little with weights and my push ups have suffered!
Today is a good day--cap and gown pick up! This saturday is the 1/2 marathon and next saturday is graduation! |

South Bend, IN Half Marathon
This was the hottest half I have done. The fact that I made it through (this is my second slowest 1/2) and there were sooo many hills I think I did well. My ITB hurt a normal amount during but hates me now that it had to sit still during the ride home.
Things that did not impress me about this race--
Cheesy medal, IMO the 1/2 started too late--full started at 6, 5k at 7:15 and the 1/2 at 7:30 and then the 10k sometime after that. By the time my bro crossed the finish line for his 1/2 (under 5 hours) he didn't have any bananas or cantaloupe to munch on. Just popsicles and water/gatorade. The water stations were one table long--not good when there are a lot of people that want water! Hills! I didn't expect so many of them and they were steep. And I felt out of shape along with the humidity. The hype is that you are suppose to get your name said as you cross the finish line...Mine wasn't mentioned :( My brothers was though...although mispronounced. There could have been some overhead cover for the shuttle back to the start line. It didn't really rain during the entire race but we got drenched waiting for the bus! The crowd that was there was supportive but far to sparse! And no real music. Wish I had brought my ipod or something.
Things I liked-Very organized for 5 races. Path was clearly marked. I liked the post race snacks--just wish my bro could of had some! Glad there was a bus to get back to my truck! I also liked that this place was so close to a quilt store I just found out about. Also it has yarn! I went and checked it out. I didn't buy b/c I cna't right now but it is always fun to look. Plus they ship and sell online. Some of the runners were funny to over hear and listen too. I got a gu--which was yummy and I normally wouldn't eat one but I did anyway. Why not right?
I did run the last little bit with this lady. I had started the convo by asking if she had ran this one before (she was huffing and puffing a lot!) she said oh yea. I told her I didn't expect so many hills. She said she runs marathons but not this one...she keeps to chicago (nice and flat). She said oh that hill should have been the last one. Then a little bit went by and we turned a corner I turned and yelled LIAR!! LOL. I'm pretty sure she will be in my finishers photo...I think she was near me at the line.
I would not race this race again. Just too big of a PITA to get there (time zone change one hour a head)
Any who I dont have my official times but my AP was a 10 minute mile--which isn't marathon pace or easy pace. It is somewhere in the middle. But all things considered a good effort on my part.
When I got home all hobbly the fiancee spoke up and said, "I think you need to stop running." When he saw my jaw drop he followed up with, "Atleast take a break." with this follow up I more realized he trying to make me not injure myself. I told him that was the plan all along. My next paid for race is in October and that is the Urbanatholon. More for fun than anything. I may do the September 1/2 in Oakbrook, IL. But that I can wait on for registration to see how training goes. I want my under 2 1/2 marathon!

7:30am run--humid...oh so humid. It takes me a while to get use to this weather. I just realized it was 80 during the 1/2 I ran on Saturday. There were yellow flag conditions and my bro said by the time he was done with his marathon it was on red.
I took the yellow dog with me and he really irked me! He was not a very good running partner. He kept running after crap (more than usual) and this stupid white dog that he hates he almost lost it on. He sees him before I do...which tells you how small the little guy is.
Then I cramped again. I haven't had this many issues with cramping since I first started running.
So I was thinking about it today and I always have troubles with the weeks after a race. I usually end up running too much (trying to go back to where I was pre race) or running to little. I'd like to be at 25-30 miles a week and just my usual. My next expected race isn't until September...maybe I will find a 5k somewhere in there to run...but doubtful (really trying to save money for the wedding)
oh and when I got home I did the 30 day Shred level 2. Much harder after a run. My shoulders felt soooo tired. |

I walked 1.5 with the dogs and a 20 minute bike ride. Not consecutively. Over all it has been a nice relaxing day. Some knitting, quilting with combo of watching movies and sitting out in the sun while reading.

I just got to look at the race photos for the south bend 1/2. And I wonder..why doesn't it look like I'm walking? It is at the finish line--so I know I was not. Grr. Even in my first 1/2 it looked like I was walking. My stride is very small. at least I know I"m a midsole runner... ) an

Graduation was great...except me coming home to a broke computer. My uncle came over and installed Window 2007 over vista (yeah!) and it feels like I am starting over. but I did find all of my wedding work so that makes a huge difference in my mood!

5:20am run. Nice and cool so I took advantage and ran 4..then walked the dogs. I couldn't sleep.
I hate my one job and I'm not sure why I stay. Too many inconsistancies and that drives me insane. I hope I remember that with my classroom. I would hate for my students to feel the way I do now. |

FYI-I hate my steakhouse restaurant job (tuesdays and saturdays) and I don't hate the second restaurant job. The second one pays more as was evident last night. I only stay at the first b/c I have been there two years and hate job hoping and would just like to be able to keepthat one on job apps etc.
I am still looking for a new day job and a teaching job...hopefully I find the teachign job first!

Last night was awesome. There was a huge storm. The new restaurant I work in is off a lake and it was just soooo cool! I should have been a metereorologist or storm chaser.
Any who the addition they added last winter started leaking. I was an opener so they cut us at like 6 is and I was home by 7 with my honey. god works in mysterious ways and I'm glad I got an impromtu date night with my fiancee.
Now I'm gonna watch the rest of the movies we rented and knit.
Oh yeah I ran 3 ish miles. Garmin was dead (adapter was not plugged into the wall, oops!)
Oh did I mention I lost all my student teaching weight? I haven't tried on my skinny jeans recently but weight wise I"m back to normal. Whew! |

i"m kinda mad in general.
I tried to do the Shred but found I was going through the motions and was bound to hurt myself or it wasn't doing me any good. Stopped after five minutes.
My friend did my taxes for me and they are all messed up. IN wanted more money and now IL wants A LOT more money. I knew I got too much back. So now I get to spend this rainy day trying to figure out what in the heck she did. Before you say ANYTHING she was an auditor for 20 years and did my taxes just fine last year. We had a deal. She did my taxes for 2 periods I would make her a quilt. Well the quilt hasn't come yet b/c she hasnt picked anything out. And now I'm made. And I bet she won't call me back today. | |

am I run down? I can't stop yawning. I wanted to run today and tomorrow but I just can't get myself out the door. Is my body holding me back or is it my brain? Is it fear of the ITB? Or is is boredom with these 3 milers? b/c I'm afraid of going any further due to ITB?
Even after taking the dogs for a walk yeterday I didn't want to run. Maybe I will wait for it to rain. For some reason rain makes me happy. And now it is just hot and muggy.
I'm definitely in a running funk. Maybe running this afternoon will be better. I'll keep you posted. I have the next two days off and I'm very happy about it.
The usual--just do it or just go mantras are not working. I went on the internet to look for anew mantra to get me out there. I think I may make a training plan for the chicago Urbanatholon. It is pretty cool looking. I"m already signed up and it is something differnt. It is just sooo far away (four months).
Not being in school is really messing me up. No real schedule or plans.

6:15 a.m....b/c of the rains last night this morning was nice an cool. It warmed up a bit by the end...but then I was almost done.
I tried Rattletraps 2-3 method of breathing. I could not coordinate my steps with my breath to do even number and odd number exhales to inhales. After much playing around I got it to 3 exhales for 4 inhales. at one point in the run I stopped my pattern and just breathed like I normally do and I got a side stitch. I went back into the pattern and it went away. Coincidence? I think not.
Took the dogs for a 1.25 mile walk
ps I have been running without garmin this week. Seems to have helped..
UPDATE--I am making my training plan for my next 1/2. I am signed up for the Oakbrook 1/2 on Memorial day Sept 6th. That is like 10 weeks away! Yikes! So I'm trying to figure out how to safely get in an 11 or 12 miler before that time frame. Since I felt so super duper before the madison 1/2 last year I went through old training blogs. Man I complain about running a lot. Smack me if I do that okay? I either complain about doing it or I complain about not being able to get a run in. Jeez..I should make up my mind! Mileage wise I did really well last summer and I would like to get back there. |

sooo sore today from Shred 3(all the lunges and squats kill me!) and from work last night. We grilled out at my aunts--some yum fresh fish they caught last year.
And then went to the fair.
I scheduled out my runs for the next 10 weeks. I"m excited for a fall 1/2...
I want to do a sub 2 hour 1/2. But after every 1/2 I feel like i'm starting all over again with mileage. So I don't know if I will be able to do it this time (put speed work into my training).
I know how to taper but I don't know how to act after the race. I hope this makes sense. So now next week I will be running only 15 or 18 miles...and I have increased 10 percent each weekish so that I can get atleast one 12 miler in before race day.
I tried to look over my training from Madison (i felt so great during that race). Also, I noticed I was dealing with pains and twinges and not wanting to run durin gthat training as well so I'm trying to keep that all in mind will I train for this one.
I guess in reality it has only been 3 weeks since my last 1/2. I suppose I'm not doing sooo bad. I just didn't think my mileage would be so low. I dunno...maybe I'm crazy! |

cooler weather makes me happy.
What does not make me happy is coming home after a run to find that the yellow dog chewed up my knitting needles (the good ones) and part of the sweater I was working on. Grrrr...I do not like him right now! |

I slept a lot yesterday so it is no wonder that I couldn't really sleep last night when I got home from work. I worked on resume packets for my quest to find a teaching job.
I don't believe weather.com when it says it is 76 degrees...feels much hotter. And I started at 6a.m!
Today is a busy week for me. Today I have to go get an IN license so SO and I can pick up our new vehicle. B/c I will be on the loan our addresses have to match. I was going to get one eventually i swear! LOL
Then I'm meeing a friend for bday lunch. I'm tryin to get someone else to take my shift tonight at the old job b/c I would like to go get the car tonight and I don't make money there anyway. If I have to go in then I will be giving them my two weeks notice. Hopefully they will just forget to put me on the schedule.
Thursday I want to go to various schools that I would realllly like to work at and drop off my resume packets.

6am Very humid with hills. I"m contemplating waking at 5 am to try to beat the humidity and heat. It was a good but slllloooow moving run today.
Yesterday I got my license and SO got the new SUV...he is very happy. i"m just glad our car payment stayed the same and we got a new vehicle. Cool huh?

this run actually went well considering I didn't get home till 2:30 in bed by 3 and up by 8. I saw my fav band at the casino only to find out that the lead lady quit. Which stinks b/c I made a t-shirt professing my liking of her. Oh well people move on I suppose! |

6:15 am run 69 degrees...very nice. This run was progressive. I was atleast 30-60 seconds faster than I have been in the last week and that is just b/c it was cooler out.

My parents stayed with our dogs this weekend so we could go to a retirement party in Indy. When we got home we were surprised with presents. They called them July fourth presents but they were really wedding presents. (I said we didn't need presents)
My parents had their mothers' wedding rings made into a necklace for me and greg got a hand gun. Both of our mouths dropped when we got them. I won't wear the necklace till the wedding but I can totally see myself wearing it after that. Now that I have my IN license I think I can go get a gun card so we can go target shooting so that will be nice and fun! |

Today is usually a day off for me so I can run long tomorrow. But I don't want to and won't have time to run on Saturday so I'm suppose to run today. Probleme is lack of sleep and the heat. Maybe I will go out later or mybe I will just be okay with running 4 days this week.
I walked the dogs 1.25 miles. that sorta counts right?
UPDATE: I ran at 1:45 pm. 91 degrees very stinking hot.
I laid out in the sun for about 30 minutes. I have to say it sorta helped me to acclimate to the weather. then I ran. I brought a bottle of water and still felt like I needed more. I think I need a new hydration system since I loathe my fuel belt. I think hand held strap bottle thing would work for me.
the local LRS has a listing on their website about a new 1/2 marathon in November. Says it is in the area and is so new right now it has no name. Kinda cool that I can race all the way to NOvember maybe this year!
ps--is garmin compatible with windows 7? I tried to download the garmin program again and i dont' see the agent thing like i did with vista AND even it is there and I can't see it my watch isn't remote downloading. |

My tooth was killing me last night. My SO's dentist doesn't open till 1pm today. Blah! I'm trying to get someone to take my shift so I can go get it taken care of...but who knows! It doesn't hurt too bad now but I know that it will later. Wednesdays are 1/2 off bottled wines and we have a piano player come in and sing and play and these ladies kept screaming the words to the songs. It was awful and just turned my tooth ache into my head hurting. Sensodyne is not working and I don't have food stuck back there. I guess it is more serious than I thought.
I may run 8 tomorrow b/c I don't see it happening today. Looks like I"m only isgonna have 4 days of running this week after all. we shall see what happens. | |

SIADI some where between 75 and 77 degrees Hot and Humid
I decided that saving my long runs for the end of the week is well a bad idea. I moved last weeks eight miler to today do to my whole tooth incident last week. Also, I have been pretty consistent in not running on Sundays so I figure mondays are a great day for a long run. I may run 9 on friday. We shall see how that works out. I don't want to fall behind on my long runs for this training season since I really want that sub 2 hour 1/2 marathon this year for some reason.
I brought with me a frozen water bottle. It was completely melted by mile 4 and warm water by 5.5. Blah.
I put ice in my buff folds on my head. Either I didn't put enough or the buff is so good at soaking up liquids that I never felt the melted ice. Must work on that.
I also did not allow myself to walk up the hills. I said I could walk at the top. This seemed to work.
Also, I found I was skipping runs due to lack of sleep and then the heat. Well I decided I will wake up at 7 (and hopefully be in bed by midnite (work is determining my bedtime lately). Seven hours seems to me a good medium for my sleeping.
On a NRR note The SO and another couple went to wine tasting in Tabor Hill-Benton Harbor, MI. It was a lot of fun. We already are making tentative plans for another weekend getaway for maybe tennessee next time. They are a sweet couple. I suggested next time we go to Makers Mark brewery b/c that is more my style. I continually try to find a wine I like but I just don't like the taste. They all taste bitter to me!

The first 7 went pretty welll. but I walked much of the last 3. My theory on this was b/c I was carrying a frozen water bottle for the first 3ish. then I set it down for the next four and picked it up.At some point I thought that someone had taken my water bottle b/c I misjudged the pick up point. Any who, then my shoulder started to grow tired. My guess is from carrying the water bottle. I'm going to the running store today to find a strappy water bottle thingy. The around the waist ones bother me too much to bother with. I gave mine away to my brother. HOpeflly he will get better use out of it!

I hate going to my running store. It is only a mile away so it is better than buying something online and paying shipping or going to the next nearest one about 35 miles away.
I hate it b/c about two years ago I signed up for a 10miler training program. I had already completed a ½ but I thought it would provide me motivation through the winter and provide camaraderie.
Instead, I felt the pressure of people running with me. I am a great running when I feel like no one is watching. Yes I do very well at races (where lots of people are watching) but at races I don’t feel judged.
I attribute this feeling to high school days when I felt judged in gym class.
Any who so I was at the store buying my handheld bottle and one of the trainers was there. She is more and more of a name now in running in our area just b/c of the races she is starting and the training programs etc. She said she saw me on FB asking about the November ½ (I was also picking up a sign up form and she saw it I my hand). She also told me there was a training program for it. I said no thank you I’m more of a solo runner. She said well as long as you are out there running. That is what is important. I froze…I felt judged. I know this is completely insane. But I did. I wanted to shout—I have done 2 half marathons this year along! And I’m signed up for two more races this year, about to sign up for a 3rd! I count! I’m a runner!
During the aforementioned training program I kept having pains and just issues in general with running. As soon as I stopped going to the program—pains went away (eventually)

It is hard to tell if I got 7 hours of sleep last night. I tossed and turned most of it and got up several times.
The run was uneventful.
Oh I did try out my new water bottle. Pretty spiff. I won't go as far to say tht I didn't notice that I was carrying it but it was easy to switch off hands and I didn't have to hold it like I did with regular water bottles. I give amphipod and A+!
In NRR news SO picked out his tux last night. And I think next week I"m gonna go over to my parents house and have them help me address wedding invitations. |

I tossed and turned a lot last night. Even moved to the couch b/c I couldn't sleep in bed. Lots on my mind. At least I got an MP mile in. Yeah for cooler weather 70 degrees.
I got a letter from Indiana DOE and they told me what tests I need to take for licensure. Well Turns out one of them I can't take till September. One of them I'm taking next friday. But it stinks b/c I have an interview next Wednesday and one of the postiions was a Reading interventionist and the other is an teaching assistant job. Both jobs I know I would love but I think now I will only qualify for the assistant job (which is less money (i think) But the plus side I wiould be working with my friend. Eventually I would get to take over her class when she goes on maternity leave so that would be perfect. The reading job is only for a year. But I"m sure if I am good I would get a new position the following year. Sigh. I had high hopes that some Illinois places would call too. But so far no luck.

The plan was to wake up at 5:45 and run 10. But at 4:30 and again at 5 and then at 5:30 I heard rolling thunder. It is now 8 and it is still thundering and raining. We seem to be getting hit hard by storms this year. I remember it raining last year but still being able to run in it. Thunder keeps me indoors.
It is also day 4 of waking up with feeling like there is a lump in my throat.
Today I started my time of the month...so I'm eating my mom's home made bread and I had bacon and eggs with my mom's garden tomatoes...very comforting. I don't have to work tonight so it maybe a good time to fininsh this book I"m reading Copper Sun if you are interested. I also started listening to a book on tape called Life as We Knew It | |

The wind felt great that early. But as my run got longer the sun came out and made it blah. My miles got slower. But still felt great doing them.
In other news--my interview went well. One of my friends was in on the interview and told her hubby who told my SO that I impressed the principal and that they thought I was a candidate. I just wish I knew which position. Neither is a teaching job full on. ONe is for a teaching assistant and the other is a Reading interventionist. Money wise I hope I get the reading job. Either job I could be happy with. Both are only for the school year. But frankly, I get paid more being a waitress than I would as an assistant. How sad is that? Oh and these jobs I would work 30 hours a week andI work less than that as a waitress...

6:30 am run...nice and chill (maybe 60ish degrees?). So I took advantage and ran 2 MP miles.
Im not sure if I blogged about this but I have really beat myself up this week.
Monday I went to my parents house. They have had some flooding issues and wante my bro and I to carry out the old hot water tank. Well my brother put it down several times without telling me and my knee went right into the tank. I have a nice bruise on my knee cap. It is okay Karma got him b/c the tank rolled on his toe. I also stubbed my toe.
They yesterday I went to get the garden hose to wash my truck. Well I had to pass over one of our sidwalks. This is where we have our sump pump pumping out water. It is kinda slimy and I forgot, I was barefoot...and I went down for the count on the side of my thigh. I have a nice bruise there and yes it hurts. Hurt more when I touch it or accidently sit on it. Right turns in my truck are brutal. I'm super surprised that I got my run in this morning. |

I kept hitting the snooze this morning. My leg hurts. and SO got a flat tire in the NEW vehicle (as in we just made the first car payment) so I have to go see about getting the tire fixed or getting a new tire...and I thought we were gonna have extra money this month. Sigh.
Needless to say I don't much feel like running. I have the whole day off so maybe I will get it in later. for now I must go to the car place. BLAH. | |

slept past my alarm. grrr. So I didn't wake up to beat the sun. I tried a new trail someone suggested and it only ended up being 1 mile. YUCK. so I drove to my usual bike path and ran the rest there. I was suppose to do 11 but it was sooooo stinking hot. I got home and the temp feels like 91. YUCK. the last two miles there was NO tree cover. so glad to be home.
so I may not get that job now. I don't have my IN license yet (which they knew) but never asked the cooperation that i'm being paid through if that was okay. So hopefully it is. |

I'm wiped out...and my scratchy throat is back along with some weezing feeling in my chest that has a cough. Great b/c I have to work 7 days in a row...one of them is a double. Today it is suppose to hi 105 with the heat index. BLECH!
In work news--Indiana is weird. They told me to send my junk in and wouldn't tell me what tests i needed. So I did that. Now I have to take tests. and I realize hey why can't i have a temp license. Well I asked and guess what? they claimed they didn't know I had my IL license. So now I should get my temp license next week...so I should get my job...I just hope the principal gets my voice message! | |

I haven't wanted to blog at all b/c I haven't run since last wednesday. I'm trying to be okay with that. I have been trying to keep up with strength but the excuses just roll on in.
I have had this ridiculous chest lung can't breath thing. It was only bothering me at night so I wouldn't sleep and then I take naps all day. I ran out of cough medicine. I finally called my doc today. She seems to think it is allergen related so she prescribed more cough medicine and an inhaler. Yuck.
At this point I can't say I miss running. I have a nagging feeling to go and run. But then it doesn't happen and I get all forget about and frustrated with myself. At this point it seems better to ignore the ugly running elephant in the room.
In better news, I start my new job on Monday (teachers only, Mon and Tues; Wednesday is the kids first day). Which means I can't go to Great America with my bro on monday like we had planned.
I will sign my contract tomorrow. But before that I need to find some liability insurance that I can purchase myself since I"m not hired through the school (i suppose I"m an independent contractor).
I was in my classroom yesterday and I get my own desk and my own students. We will be testing the first few weeks to determine the lowest readers and then provide support. I"m excited. I bought some organizational stuff since typical teacher stuff doens't seem required. I even have a scripted curriculum. Seems like it will be a nice first year. I don't have to do any of the normal teacher stuff (report cards, parent conferences) just helping kids get to grade level reading and writing. I"m sure once I get used to the program I will want to spice some stuff up and offere up suggestions. But for now I will do what I'm told.

Lung issues still present. I didn't get up until 8:30 (which is sleeping in b/c I couldn't fall asleep finally until about 1 and then woke up at 5:30 hacking my guts out.
So I took Aunts advice "Ya only have to run for 10 minutes"
I took the dogs out and decided to test my lungs. We did pretty well. It wasn't till I stopped running where my lungs felt bad again.
I kind of had an epiphany about my lungs last night. What if I'm not sick and it is anxiety induced? I looked up anxiety symptoms and chest tightness or not being able to breath with ease is one of them. But running is my stress reliever. So I'm in a catch 22. But now that I know I can run and won't have a breathing spasm and fall over and die I think I will try running again tomorrow.
I'm going to change my 1/2 marathon goal for Sept 6th to run for fun instead of running it under 2. I think that is causing too much pressure in my head. It seems when I set actual goals for myself (besides finishing and having fun) I freak out and go into shut down mode. (I think this comes from highschool years of not liking any physical activity or sports). I wish I could change my mindset some how.
In other running news--I'm trying to sign up to be an assistant coach for Girls on the Run. I say trying b/c they are pretty bad an replying to emails in a timely manner. They have a slot for me in the spring but now in the fall they said I could be an extra coach. This sounds weird so I emailed the main coach directly to see if he really needs me or if I would just be in the way. Cross your fingers. I think helping girls like me will be fun and I wish I would have known about the joys running when I was younger! |

I could not wake up this morning!
So I did 30 day Shred level 2 at 7pm..that was still too soon after dinner (1.5 hours)
So new plan (still figuring out schedule) I have about 2 hours after school for when SO gets home(I like to have dinner ready shortly after his arrival (he does not care aobut this time frame--the perfectionist in my likes it)
I will do the 30 day shred or Elliptical at 530 in the morning M-Fri. then walk doggies. Then after school I will run. The weekends will be sporadic at best do to my still working at restaurant (that will end after wedding)
Tomorrow there is a fun run at 6pm...If I get there early enough I will get a free pair of Bolega socks (love those socks!)
Oh my breathing is still labored...I finally have a doc appointment on Wednesday. Hopefully my symptoms are still there and I don't look like a fool!
REally liking my new career! We are still testing. Hopefully by wednesday I will know which kids I get to help and will start the lessons.
I haven't run consistently in like 2 weeks. I'm nervous about my 1/2 next monday...I figure if I run atleast 3-5 miles five days this week I won't completely die. I won't hit my under 2 goal but I don't think I will die. Thoughts?

pm workwork--I went to the LRS for a fun run. I got a free pair of balega (sp?) socks. I love these socks and normally they are 14 bucks so this is nice.
Plus I felt like I did pretty well on this run since it was like 90 degrees! I was alone for most of it. I think a lot of people started out too fast b/c I kept picking them off. It was definitely a confidence booster for me.

Epic Fail--1/2 Number FIVE is in the bag!
Okay so it wasn't a total failure. But it was pretty horrifical.
I started out well enough. About a 9:30 pace (i felt if I picked it up for the last 1/2 I would make my goal)
Mile 1-3 nice and easy--except for a bottle neck under a bridge. We had to go single file due to yuck and darkness. Nice rolling hills.
4-6 I don't really remember but no real complaints. I wished that there were more water stops. The area was gorgeous.
mile 6.5--some old guy says at the top of this one hill (which stunk) it is all down hill from here. I half way believe him. Huge mistake b/c there were more hills. and did I mention gravel?
mile 7 ish--did I mention gravel? and the down hills? Well my good ol ITB pain came back.
I don't remember 8-10--more hills...pretty...also some times I would have to speed away from people b/c they were either clomping along like clydesdales or were just talking waaaay to loud or about stupid stuff I didn't want to hear about. (like how fabulous they are)
Mile 11.5 I was walking some more due to the pain was just getting too great. It could feel it all in my butt and my knee. Stunk. Thank goodness for the tree cover. The weather was great!
Somehow I pushed it out and made it.
My time isn't official yet--just garmin time.
I would totally do this race again--with 130 miles of running the month before in the bank...50 was not a good idea...I made it..but it wasn't pleasant! I want to replicate my madison 1/2. I felt awesome during and after!
The best part was that My SO finally got to see me cross the finish line. Usually we miss each other b/c of crowd or there being two areas to finish. My bro even got a neat pic of me crossing. I look hellacious but it was still pretty neat.

I could not wake up. This NyQuil at night routine is killing me! So hopefully if I dn't take it tonight I will be able to sleep through the night and wake up for a morning work out.
I did walk the dogs maybe 1/2 a mile (pressed for time) in the morning.
After work I got in 5 miles
Tomorrow I can go into work a little later b/c I have a meeting after school. (I can only get paid for 6.5 hours so I can switch me start and stop times with in some limits--sometimes I do end up working for free...but that is what a teacher does right?)
I had my dress fitting after my run. I felt like I was going to pass out. I basically rushed on over there after the run. I had to sit and drink some water. I still feel a little woozy! I highly recommend No More Trouble Zones with Jillian Michaels if you are looking for a work out DVD. I swear this is the only way I get my strength training done. My abs are still sore (two days later) which almost never happens. Kinda sweet feeling! |

5:09 am...I ran hill repeats. Just little ones. my timing was spot on but after I looked at the distance on my garmin the repeats were all over the place. not sure what is up with that. Any who...the rest of the run was slow and relaxing.
30 pushups
.8 miles with the dogs pm-did some of the no trouble zones. I dont like all of the work outs due to some lower back issues I have so I just speed through those (the are like the double crunches with your legs straight out). I'd say I do about 40 minutes of the workout. Plus I like to do it for the arms. |

I was up before the alarm but still had to convince myself that it was better to run than to sleep for an hour. Also it is helping that my SO is an addict to his sleep button (45 minutes of the sleep button) so since this is never going to change I decided I will wake up at around his second round and go for a run. Good plan right? So far it is working swimmingly.

just a guesstamate b/c garmin decided to turn off at 2.75 miles and I dind't realize till 1/2 a mile or so later.
Did I mention I was cold? Yesterday I dressed too warmly and today I needed more clothes. 51 degress. It felt great but the first few miles were a little chilly.

SO"s sister and brother in law got in while I was running so they are all sleeping now. Wish I didn't have to go to work. I am having some wedding site drama. Thought we would be able to just go there and get married..NOW we think about it and we may have to get a permit or something. Glad SO is off today and I hope it isn't expensive. So I get a snow day or there is still a shooter on the loose no school day. Blah. Which means no running outside by the request of my hubs. So I toughed it out on my ellip. I hate it but glad I have it. I wanted to do 45 minute or 4 miles but could only stand it for 35 or 3 miles. Blah
I hope to quilt today...maybe start and finish a baby blanket and my wedding signature quilt.

5pm run. 83 degrees
This run felt hard for the first mile. Then it lightened up for a mile or two and went back to hard. I think I was so excited about being able to run that I started too fast.
The shooter is still at large. A guy I work with says one of his neighbors looks like the suspect and hasn't seen him since Tuesday or his Gma for that matter (they live together). And he harvests/has bees (the shooter talked to one of his victims about bees)
It was so nice to be back to school again. I really love my job. I feel so blessed. |

Okay so the alarm went off at 5 a.m. and I turned it off and slept till 6ish.
All day I considered giving up running. But then thought what else would I do to get rid of my anxiety or just over all stay in some what of a shape?
Well once again I'm going to be an afternoon runner. Winter is coming and it is just going to get colder and darker so I figure afternoons is my best bet.
I have to say the first mile sucked. I had a side kink (oh chocolate during the day is not a good idea; stupid halloween) but the last two were fantastic. I want to get faster.
I"m going to build mileage over the winter to a 1/2 marathon race (nothing in mind yet) and work on speed.
my speed did get progressively faster over this run. Which is what I"m liking and what I"m used to. Maybe I was just having and off year/summer...I hope fall is bringing better things for my runs. |

I woke up earlier originally to set up for my garage sale. Decided it was a glorious day for a run but not for a garage sale. On and off showers all day. but it seems to have only sprinkled. Oh well. Maybe I will just donate my stuff to salvation army.
As I was running I realized there was a race that was being blocked off for. I ran it last year and I think I placed 2nd or 3rd in AG. But it was so cold that day that I went home before finding out that I placed.
I have a 5 K tomorrow. We shall see how it goes. |

My pacing was no where near my MP pace but b/c I was working so hard during this run I counted them as MP miles. I think I aveaged about 10:30 for this race (my last mile was the slowest b/c it had the steepest and most climbs.
It was all up or downhill and all trails. This was my first trail race and run period. I think I did pretty well.
My friends did the walk (same path but started after the runners) I waited and waited for them. I guess they got lost. Eventually they found their way--not to the finish line but to the parking lot.
It was for my friend's kid's school so that was nice. And the spread was really nice! I have seen Marathons with less food!
Shirt is pretty cool too spooky halloweenish.
This trail was only about 40 minutes from my house. I noticed that they also have a 6. something trail as well. I may come back when I need a pick me up. |

What a nice day out. It is soooo windy today but I love it b/c it isn't a cold wind. Nice and comfy. 34 mph winds says weather channel at 65 degrees. My last mile was a little slower than the first 3 but add in wind and a hill and it is bound to effect you.
Also the first two miles stunk. I had a cramp and had to go to the bathroom. But after that i felt pretty okay. I thought I was being a slug but turns out I was running around 10 min miles. Which isn't bad for feeling like a slug.
So I did some reflecting on why I'm so blah about running. I"m on another forum and all th they do is talk abou thow much it hurts to run or why didn't run etc.
Last summer I read some wonderful running books and I ran A LOT. So I looked up so more books to read. If you have a fav blog or article that is inspirational that would be nice.
Lately I have been reading historical fiction and that can be depressing but very interesting. I just through a book that was about Nazi Germany. Very good book but sad too.
This weekend they have a FREE four mile race that starts at 6pm on that same trail i ran on last weekend. If I run it I'm running in the back of the pack b/c the trails were just so narrow and people were too competitive...I swear some just wanted to knock me over! |

I hadn't planned on going this far. (only 4 or 5) but I did the math wrong as to where to turn around. Oh well. It is a new month and a new week. I looked over my higher months in mileage. I was doing really well at the beginning of the year and I was student teaching. this whole time I was blaming working in the day. So It is 5 am runs for me. I finally found my gloves to.
53 degrees today!
Goal for this week --3 more 3 milers. A bonus will be one more or adding in strength training to my non running days. I have a training plan in effect to build my miles slowly and to start out low so that I don't have ITB issues like I did earlier this year. |

9:30 am run. It is now 35 degrees. I think it stay pretty much that warm throughout the run.
Just east of me they go snow (like two miles) and a little further they got a lot of snow. Nice little blanket!
my pacing was all over the pace. It is funny to look at my splits b/c it is up down up down and finally up. LOL
I hit my goal for the week of doing at least 4 runs three of which had to be atleast 3. I messed up when looking at my training plan. I was suppose to run 5 days. But I think mileage wise I am okay.

I really can't wait to having some higher mileage. These three mile runs are super boring. I can't do speed workouts on all of them in order to keep them interesting!
I contacted the local running club and she finally emailed me back. I guess on Sundays they do long runs. This weekend they are running on Saturday. I'm thinking about running 6 with them (they run 11)

I met up with people to run with. We did a almost 6 mile run and then they meet up with beginners to run another 5. When I got home I finished the rest of the 6 miles and then some (it really bothered me that wedidn't do a whole six and we were only .15 short)
It was a little awkward at first but I think it was fun. Sherry has had the stomach flu all week so she walked a lot and didn't want us to walk. The last mile Bill and I ran on our own. So our pacing is a little screwy but I like the slow easy pace. I think it will keep me from doing my long runs too fst in the future.
They are also telling me I should atleast run Chicago onces in my life. WE shall see. They also said I, ME, am a strong runner!? OMG...never been called that in my life. Except by my friends but they don't run, so what do they know?
So I told them I would meet up with them again next week. Usually they run on Sundays. Even the beginners seemed pretty cool.
I was super nervous that they were gonna be speed freaks> I mean she told me my range for pace was perfect for them but I have been told that before and then the group runs way to fast in the beginning for me. Totally happy that they are at my pace for long run!
One thing I did find weird--i know they were running 11 miles today but Sherry was sucking down her 2nd Gu by the time we got done with the 6...that seemed weird since I didn't even carry water with me. Maybe it was b/c she was sick and she was getting her energy/calories thatway?

7ish am run. I wore too many clothes. I'm still sick. I was spitting up crap all through the run. I took my yellow dog with just in case I just wanted to walk. Surprisingly that never happened.
I was really tired of NOT running. But now I"m zonked. I am upping my intake of D3's (thanks sno--I realized I ran out of them a few weeks ago and never stocked up) guess now I know why my defense was down!
The plan is to read and do the rest of my laundry for the day.
Yesterday we did Thanksgiving with my family. This week we will go to Greg's Family's (well part of his family--his family is HUGE)

But I ended up shedding gloves b/c i was hot. Go figure.
I did some planks and stretching when I got home along with rolling on both legs. Which kinda hurt a little. (the rolling did)
Did I mention that we booked our Maui trip? Friends of miine are getting married in June and she was talking about booking her honeymoon. She will be there just before we get there so she is gonna tell me all the cool things to do (they are staying at the same hotel and everything!) We compared prices and between that and looking on expedia and feel really good about the price we got from my travel agent friend. Plus I have a direct flight back. It isn't till July but I'm still super excited!
So if you have been to Maui--tell me what I must do and what I can skip. We are staying in Lahaina. I know we will take a day trip to Pearl Harbor.

Now that I'm home at 10 the weather is 36 feels like 28. I think it was feels like 21 when I first started.
This run seemed to have taken FOREVER!!! My AP wasn't too bad nut far off from yesterdays 6 miler. So weird!
so I wanted to hit 1000 miles this year...doesn't look like that will happen since i'm 90 away bummer
Goals for the week-2-3 milers, a four miler, and a seven--total 22 miles for the week.
My real SIL wants to run a marathon in March in Little Rock. She wanted to run with me on Friday. So I waited for her to wake up. Long story short I suppose she changed her mind about running withme. WE even printed her up a Higdon 16 week training plan. I just texted her and asked if she was going to run today and she said Tuesday she would on her day off. OMG. My step SIL said she ran a full marathon on 3 days a week of training. OMG! I would die! I mean she wasa 5 hour plus marathon (which I would NOT want to do to myself)
Any who. I'm thinking about running Chicago this year. There is a charity that apparently will drive you up there in a bus (for some money of course) but that is my whole thing aboutdoing chicago races--it is a PITA to get there and park etc. Also it is expensive. I need to wrap my head around 120 dollars for one race. There is a marathon around here in April but I know the crowds will be minimal and I think if I'm going to run 26 I need all the cheering I can get. 13 miles is easy to get through if you are having a bad running day. 26 is another story.

so I thought maybe I was getting too much sleep and that is what I kept waking up in the middle of the night. Not so. Last night I went to bed at 10 and It was VERY hard to wake up this morning and I still woke up in the middle of the night.

5:20 am felt like 20, actively snowing. About 2-4 inches on the ground. I had to go to the dentist today by 8. I dind't think I wouldn't be walking back in the door at around 7! OMG 11:30 AP. It was a fun run. But I just kept getting distracted. So I'm not complaining about my pace.
I had to stop to let plows through--they are BIG and scary!! Within the first mile I saw 5 deer in the field just staring at me and I at them. Very pretty. Then about 7 miles in there were deer trying to cross the street. It was funny. I wonder who they vote to look both ways and then give the go ahead. They all sprinted away in the field.
Then I thought I got lost. I tend to run in this one ritzy community during the day but I combined two of my short runs (which was only suppose to be between 7 and 7.5 miles). I had started going the right way and then doubted myelf and walked the other way (too much snow to see the signs). Lucky for me there was a lady walking her dog that told me I was indeed going in the right direction the first time. I got back on track. Went right instead of left outside of the complex thinking that would be less mileage and I maybe right. If I went left maybe I would have ran 8.5 miles.
Annoying thing--snow kept getting stuck in the spot of my heal. Do you know what I"m talking about? I usually get a rock stuck there once in a while. But I had to keep stomping the snow out! Very annoying!
Very peaceful run. Drove to my dental appointment, did a 360 in my truck (nothing is hurt) and then got a root canal.
I think I'm gonna go quilt.

I was up at 5 then at 6 then finally i got out of bed but went back to sleep after breakfast.
11:15 average pace. Very cold...my legs are numb. On the cemetary sign it said 25 degrees. I got home and weatherchannel says it feels like 15. Yuck..and wind.

| so yesterday was a day off. Today I woke up to run only to get a v-mail that my grandpa died. We weren't on the best of terms but I'm still a crying mess. Don't feel much like braving 5 degree weather today. Forgive me running people. :) | |

5:10 run. 7 degrees feels like-1 progressive run 11 minute AP
what to wear? hubbies long underwear pants, nike fleece lined pants, mizuno breath thermo shirt and gloves, smartwoold shirt over that (i like the long sleeves). Mizuno jacket, and my pink underarmour hat with my buff.
I really should knit something to go over my buff. It was just not keeping my face very warm. i don't remember this being a problem last year. And maybe something for my ankles b/c they get cold. I am not a fan of long socks. For some reason they feel itchy. Not that I have never tried the running long ones...maybe they would be better. |

5:10 am feels like 21. 11:07 AP And more snow!
My legs felt pretty tired today. but good b/c I rolled out my legs and used the stick last night. I came home and stretched a lot with planks and other yoga poses. Maybe I will roll my legs again tonight. |

I don't know if I should even count this as a race. It was a fun run after all and no timing chips or anything. Plus I ran 4.47 miles before it.
I ranwith a friend who is training for her first half. It was cool b/c we got to know each other while talking and walking some of the race. She was having a bad day.
I told her I get the same way with running with someone new--I always run like crap (usually then they never want to run with me again). She said she was nervous b/c I'm fast. I'm like I am not fast!!! LOL
So any who we had a good time and we hopefully will do some training runs together in the future.

No school! Snow day! Streets are bad. So I didn't run again. I went on the stinking ellip..I texted and listened to songs I downloaded this morning. Hopefully the roads willopen up by tomorrow (yes some shut down around here)

5 am -1 ACTUAL degrees. when I got home it went down a degree.
I was so tired of the elliptical. So I decided to head out anyway. Waaaay too cold. And I was bundled up. I'm thinking there are people out there that can run in actual -1 degree weather (usually when I run it is the windchill) but I just don't think I ahve the right equipment/clothes!
It hurt my face. So rather than having my face fall off I came home. I even tired running around the park (i tried some speed work to try to warm up) NOT WORKING!
So I came home and did 30 minutes of Jillian's Kickboxing. Maybe I will ellip later. but guess what? We are headed for ANOTHER winter weather advisory! YUCK |

5 am 11:27 AP (my pacing was ALL over the place) 12 degrees feels like 1.
I did 40 seconds last night in the plank position.
this morning I did 30 seconds before my run and 1 minute after. (I was trying to see when would be the bes time to plank for the plank off. LOL
Then I did 20 seconds on each side for a side plank (i kept falling over) |

7:15 am. Yeah for running in the light! But booo it is still cold! 7 degrees. AP was 10:56 and I was actually pretty consistant. everything feels super tight. I'm hoping it is b/c it is cold and it is hard to layer up too much
Today I wore hubbies longunderwear, nike fleec lined pants, mizuno breath thermo, sweatshirt, jacket, mizuno breath thermo gloves and adidas gloves (these all kept coming on and off as need be) hat and buff and scarf. It is suppose to snow tonight so I"m glad I got this 8 out of the way now. (this is my long run for saturday)
I was an idiot and did my plank after this long run 30 seconds (lame!)

| another lame 45 second plank. but I did side planks at 30 a piece. The front of my leg hurt so I have been rolling it out and took a day off. I think my body is just tired from cleaning that floor forlike three hours and then sealing it. Oh and it was actually not too bad on sidewalks today so I took the dogs for a walk. (it has been about a week and a 1/2) so they are all kinds of thrilled with me. LOL |

7 am run low 20's. I thought I dressed to warm but my legs like froze up after like 3 or 4 miles and I wasloggging along after that. I feel pooped.

Sigh.... my IT Band hurt yesterday. Well not during the run. It was just sore.
I wanted today to be my last 4 of 1000 miles. But maybe I will wait so I can run another 1000 next year.
so I have been rolling it. The only thing I can think of is that this week I"m running later in the day so I have to be on the side of the road. When it is 5 am Ihave no problems runningin the middle of the roard (no canting). And the other thing I haven't been walking the dogs this week (too cold) and that is usually my cool down.
Today i will just take it easy and hope for better things tomorrow.

60 minutes on the ellip. BORING...but the band is still hurting. I"m getting frustrated.
Did some crunches.
Edited to show--so I realized today that the yearly total includes cross training.
So I had to go back and add up my running mileage--841.13 for the year. Not horrid but not as exciting at 1000.
Also I would like to add that this month has been my highest for cross training. Either I havent tracked it as well in past months or it really has been waaay too cold! LOL
So for after the first of the year I will not be putting in cross training miles so as to not screw myself up for next years goal of 1000 running miles for the year! Which incidently is only 83.33 miles per month. Totally do able! | |

3:45ish run 19 degrees feels like 8
so after quietly self loathing I took the dogs for a mile walk. The fresh air made me want to run. So I did.
I got to test drive my smartwool socks I got from my hubs for xmas. They are awesome. What did I do before them? My feet were warm not chilled at all. And I got the long ones so even my ankles were warm. Much better run b/c of it.
When I got home I moved around a bit straightening up the kitchen. I did some bridges (i think that is what they are) some squats, stretches, and rolled my legs. Of course I did a 60 sec plank--it only lasted that long b/c my dogs decided to join me in downward dog and one of them farted. Aren't they cute?

I woke up and felt blah. WEather changes make my sinuses wonky. It is 50's today! OMG
so I ran. It felt good. Probably ran too fast but I made up for it by coming home and stretching, ab work
What made today's run fabulous was that I wore my jacket (it is raining here too) and my new turqoise running shirt. I LOVE IT! Any who i had to take off the jacket b/c I was too hot! YEAH! and just run with my lovely turquoise shirt! it isoooooooo soft! |
