okay frb friends...I figured out how many weeks away my marathon and the 1/2 marathon is.

I could technically start an 18 week program up in about 2 weeks on january 31

Soooo should I take a week off to rest my it band? just do some walking?

or continue like i have this week and run 4-5 days for the week with low mileage (3-4 miles per run and walk at reg intervals)

the program has me doing 3 three mile runs and an hour of cardio/cross training for the first few weeks

Personally I think for the next few weeks I should chill out keep up with 3-4 miles for 4-5 days a week. Strength train and elliptical.

btw--i got home and it was snowing...but I ran anyway. Also i thought i twas impossible for it to snow if it was colder than 30? it is 20 right now with a wind chill of 14...what is up with that?

I guess it depends on how bad you're hurting right now. If it is just discomfort, keep on with what you're doing, but keep rolling, icing, ibuprofen, etc. I agree with your last statement.

Is the race you're doing in your town the 1/2 or the full?

I would say it isn't hurting it is just uncomfy --like a warning. I need to be better about icing it. Just hurts so much after icing! yuck!

okay so in the order of things. In what order should I ice, roll and stretch? I was told to roll then stretch but when do I ice?

The 1/2 is amongst the corn in Lowell--that is in April and the Full is at Norte Dame

Nice job on the snowy run. Good luck with your training schedule. Definitely err on the side of caution. Do what feels comfortable to you. No point in getting injured.

i agree with tracy and JD. run if you can, but be cautious about it and make sure you get a lot of rest.

notre dame! sunburst? i love that place so much.

allie--really? I ran the 1/2 last year and they didn't say my name...maybe that is a marathon perk? They announced my bros name so I was happy for him...but sad for me!

Exciting! So jealous! Why can't we just do whatever we want whenever we want? ITB is ridiculous.

yes I agree Nicole!

Do what I say, not what I do! Be cautious if you possibly can. I feel ridiculous giving this advice, given my history with not following it.

Aunt I htink I ultmately decided i'm gonna take it easy for 3 weeks...then start formal training again
