knee is hurting. Very frustrated. My training isn't going well. November I was sick. Last week was a deep freeze and now this.

As far as the knee I'm not sure what I"m doing wrong. I made knee sleeves but I guess I will either try them later today or tomorrow...Hopefully my knee will stop by then. It is weird it felt okay at work last night. i wonder if this is my new phantom pain. My dad is being a pain in my butt right now...hmmmmm

It sounds like the knee pain is from more than the cold. Where on the knee does it hurt? Is it constant or intermittent? Worse when the knee is still or when you walk or run?

While I was running it definitely hurt on the lateral side of the joint.

Now just walking around the house I can feel a little pinge just under the patella. I could feel it a lot this morning. But now that it is afternoon it is very minimal and only when I go up stairs.

Tomorrow we shall see how they feel in the a.m. I'm also going to throw on my new ST3's and see if that helps. It is just a bummer that on average I can only get 3-400 miles out of shoes (if switching shoes ends up helping)

OH in the mean time I just have been resting on the couch and knitting and xmas present for my mom...walking around minimally and trying not to push my luck.

If you have any advice please let me know!

Hope you find solution to the knee pain soon. Do you think it's ITBS? Have you tried Kinesio tape, foam roller, or ITB stretches? Hopefully it's just shoe mileage issue.

Sorry about the knee. Sounds a little like my knee pain. While it is inflamed, there is really nothing you can do but rest it. I think I've finally fixed mine by correcting some muscle imbalances in my hip and butt muscles and running more consciously.

More conscious? Explain please...do you mean on form?

From auntieem on Sun, Dec 20, 2009 at 14:40:03 from 67.182.145.8

Yes! Mostly I do mean form. I've just become very aware of small imbalances in my body, and try to correct those as I run. I've got one hip flexor that is more mobile than the other side, and one gluteus medius that is stronger. These imbalanced parts pull the whole system off, so that after awhile I can let go and let one hip sort of drag along as I run. I try to feel that every stride is coming from a lift in the hip and each foot strike is dead on under my body and mid foot. I'm also doing exercises for ONE hip flexor, ONE knee, and ONE butt muscle,

I find that if I"m aware of my running I run better. I have been trying to keep up with my Chi Running but sometimes I forget and I sloppy run (that is what I call it) that could be my problem too.

Sorry to hear about your knee woes April. I had some knee pain last week and my ART doc fixed it last night - the problem was inflexability due to really tight hamstrings (similar to Aunties, because it then hits hip and gluts). Roll on a tennis ball, get your gluts, your hamstrings, your hip, and your IT band - all will hurt like heck). Foam rollers are your friend!

I hope something helps!

Thank Bonnie--I have tennis balls in the house. I will try that. I"m so horrible at remembering to stretch!
