Today is the day I officially quit! UGH! I am so frustrated with running. 10 minutes into the run my shins are burning, I already had a headache...So I went another 5 minutes and went home, got my bike out and rode that for 5 miles. My legs felt tired but good after that...There is 3 weeks left of school and I think I am just going to skip running up until then. Unfortunately I can't get my money back for the 10 mile race...Maybe I will try it anyway? I don't know I haven' tmade up my mind.

Good news is I got a super cute hair cut today and I start training for my promotion today at work. Oh and I got a lot of projects done for school.

Luckily during the summer most of my runs are at night so I will be working less but that means more time for running/biking during the day. Last summer when I trained for my 1/2 I was only working (I took teh summer off from school) that seemed to be good for my training.

At any rate--happy running!

Maybe a break from running is what you need. But if you do take that break, be sure to come back as soon as you can.

You certainly have a lot on your plate, and it's better to leave running aside for a while than it is to end up resenting it.

you could try drastically changing your approach. Crosstrain or run slower or faster. For me sometimes my shins hurt at one speed, but not at a faster or slower speed. I don't really understand it, but it is what it is. Maybe find a dirt trail. Just throwing out things to try, but I agree with Sno, taking a break is better than hating it forever.

azdesertmonsoon,

I haven't had shin pain in 10 years so this frustrates me a lot. A few times running faster has worked but today it was just unbearable and unfixable...I think the headache really did me in.

I think I will just ride my bike maybe pop in the good ol' work out videos...

I'm torn between wanting to not lose my cardio fitness b/c that is so hard to build back up and not wanting to be burned out...I'm sure I will run agian within the next week. LOL

I just can't stay away from my great love! Running!

I think I"m just frustrated in general...life is so weird!
