Goal:3 miles and keep a sub 10 pace-do some 9 min pace times

45 Degrees--cloudy

8:00am average pace 9:47

I almost didn't make it out this morning. why? Well I started to run and every time my left foot struck i had this twinge of pain right above my knee! I'm like what is that? So I hobbled home..ate some breakfast and tried again--no pain this time. What a weird thing!

It rained all night so of course today while running I had to dodge puddles. I was going to do my normal 3 miler but then i realized I could go where ever and not worry about having to map my squiggley run on mapmyrun . yeah Nike!

Any who-I was able to make a turn away from the wind which made this run a lot more pleasant. I got my shoes wet for the first time--guess I can't return them now! LOL

I did try to keep my pace at 9ish...sometimes it was at 8:30 for an entire minute...that kind of wore me out. I know 10 is my comfortable pace but i'm trying to make 9 my comfy pace. Looks like I could get to 8:30 over time. That is encouraging. Seems like fastrunningblog is already helping!

Good workout! I just hate it when my feet get wet. I love the term "comfy pace." :)

Keep running and your "comfy pace" will get faster. I'm glad that the fastrunningblog is helping.

awww...are you all teasing me? Yes I have a few words that you probably would not find in the dictionary but they decribe how I am feeling well. I call them aprilisms. LOL

I"m just glad that 10 pace feels good. I use to gasp for air at an 11 and 12 pace!

Not teasing! It is apt.

It will get easier and easier. 6 months ago my easy pace was 11:00 per mile. Now I am comfortable between 8:30 and 9:00. Just be consistent!

6 months? wow...well considering I haven't done much for speed work I'm not surprised I haven't improved speed wise. I think on my short tuesday runs I will throw some unofficial speedwork in...

Schereville....you're pretty close to me.

Welcome to the blog!!! It's awesome the friends you can make and great to have "cheerleaders"

Psst...I just left a response on my blog for you.

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 22:49:07 from 205.172.12.229

I don't do any speedwork--I've found that higher, slower mileage has increased my fitness much better without getting me injured(I am rather injury-prone).
