I woke up a little late today...So I ate breakfast and waited an hour...I had no problems with this as far as stomach trouble.

Today I was trying to work on Chi running...I have always had a week back so it was kinda bothering me today. Not hurting just feels week. i have been doing super mans and ab work trying to strengthen it but as I remember even doing 300 sit ups a day did not help. I have horrible posture. I try to stand and walk tall at work but that kills me...

Any who I thought I would try this whole fast mile thing. this run is a 1.5 out and 1.5 ish back. So on the last mile I sped up. I would say the last few blocks of the run I was in all out sprint. Good thing it is down hill. I about died but feel okay. Also the last 1.5 mile was 1 minute faster than the first.

Good to hear there was no stomach trouble. Good luck with the back. The exercises you described are for core/abs. Maybe there are some other good back exercises you could do. Sorry that I'm not expert enough to recommend any.

Take it easy on those fast finishes. If you find that you're really beat tomorrow from today's fast finish, don't take it quite so fast next time.

Yeah so glad some one reads my blog! This week I have been so bored and I'm really trying not to run everyday (i don't want to end up running 25 miles this week and end up injured...tomorrow i will probably do my yoga/pilates thing from fit tv.

I thought if i strengthened my core I would be also strengthening my lower back? Especially supermans? hmmm I shall have to research that!

Yoga and pilates both have really good exercises for the back. As with everything else April ... take it easy and build up so you don't get hurt. A lot of times when your back hurts (especially the lower back) it is your lower body that it not working properly - so concentrate some of the exercises on your hips, quads, gluts and calves too.

There is a good book/website called "pain free" that shows some nice exercises (http://www.egoscue.com/).

Good luck April!

Pretty soon, you'll be asking Sasha to add a column for fast miles. :D Another workout you might enjoy is a fartlek ("speed play"), in which you speed up for short burst of time (30-60 seconds). I don't think you need to count them right now but they are fun and will get your heart rate up without killing you. The main thing right now is (sing it with me everyone!) aerobic base! Have a great weekend.

Sno--isn't fartlek also like hey I will run fast until that stop sign or the end of the block or whatever?

Bonnie-thanks for the link. I really like the yoga and most pilates moves. I really did not put two and two together that more leg exercises would help with the back. I will pay more attention to that.
