7:20am goal-to run 4 miles

10 degrees with wind chill-20 with out it (I cannot believe I still have to notice the wind chill)

My first mistake is not waking up earlier. I woke up at 7 and was out the door by 7:20....my legs do not seem to like that much. I had shin pain the entire 2 miles...yes I decided to go home. I had to keep walking and I have to be somewhere today. So my deal with myself is depending on when I get home I will try again for 2-3 miles and OR i will just run tomorrow 3 miles.

I know it is horrible to split such short runs but I hate shin pain.I tried lengthening my stride but that didnt work...could it be that I just need to walk up a little earlier in order for my legs to wake up? Or am I doing something wrong?

But good news is that I took the husky with and she really enjoyed the run (it started to snow)

And I had a piece of toast with peanut butter and no cramps...yippee! I have been trying to play around with eating/what to eat/or not eating at all before a run.

21:20 was my time...at times I was running 9:30 mile but averaged at a 10:20 due to walking and trying to stretch it out.

For what it's worth, my advice would be to not worry about short runs, but to focus on good warm up, good form (make sure you are not heel striking) and enjoying the experience of running. If you have walk or cut things short, that's alright; things will get better if you love doing it and you keep doing it. :)

well I noticed I was running heavy...that seems to be something I do when I haven't completely woken up and it is only really on short runs...OR when I feel lin a hurry...so either I will wake up earlier or plan runs when I don't have to be anywhere...just seems when i feel rushed mentally I don't run as well...but when I have a la de da attitude my performance is better...i'm like that with tests too...LOL

P.S. Looks like I won't have time for a few miles this afternoon...soo should I try again tomorrow? I have a 8miler planned with the LRS on saturday...
