9:20 am 24 degree. Average pace 10:20 There wasn't a wind chill when I started but I could feel it. When I got home I checked the weather and it is 29 with 21 degrees as the wind chill. I wore my committment skirt over my pants. This was great b/c I had those two big pockets for my water bottles. I hate the fuel belt around my belly so this worked out well. Plus I only drank about 6 oz and a sip of the other bottle.

I have a question about GU and marthon training. For 1/2 marathon training I don't even use them. But I have been bringing them along (I didn't eat one today) just to taste them and see which ones I like. At what point should I eat one during my marathon training? Right now I feel my mileage is too low to bother. Usually I will jsut take a gulp of one and save it for next week or something. Again that was just to try it to see if I like them.

I KT taped my leg up two hours before the run. I alcoholed my leg before applying . It is falling off right now...but I think I was having placement issues and parts of the tap split down the middle. Bla blah blah.

This was a weird run so I will just tell my splits and tell you what went on during them

1:10:43 afterthis mile I wanted to cut off my leg
2:11:44 I started walking after every mile
3:11:31
4:10:34 stretching and walking
5: 10:52 Hit the midway point and was feeling better about only having to go another 4.5
6:10:04--I thought duh...why am I not Chi Running
7:9:14 and then I started thinking of Haikus
8:9:42 thought man I should probably slow down
9: 9:28 thought if I make it home by 11 I can start back on homework again. So I sped back up.

My knee really hurts
Marathon training is hard
Chi Run realy works!

My knee still hurt during chi running. But it was different. Like it was  a better hurt. Not a worrisome one.

I was a little worried about this week. I only got 18 running miles in but i did do 2 sessions on the elliptical and weight video. So really I worked out 6 days this week. I think if I counted 3 miles per elliptical seesion then I would have 24  miles this week.

I'm going to go soak in the tub and read...Happy running! and I hope all did well on their races today! I thougth about you when I was out there!

Nice haiku.

I'm afraid I don't have any gu advice for you. I used to take Sports Beans on long runs, but I never really had a system for when to eat them. Lately, I haven't been carrying anything. For example, today I ran 16, but I just had some water from a fountain after 5 and again after 11.

I've got my knee taped too. I did it last night. You know how you're supposed to do an X for the ITB taping? One strip of my X fell off overnight, but the other didn't.

Yeah that is what keeps falling off is the X...well usually just one part of it. Usually the part that is below the knee. If that makes sense. Oh sigh...one day we will get it right!

You had a nice run today! Sounds like you need a good dose of believing in yourself--your last 3 miles were great! So next long run, just think of that--you know you can do it when you are aching!

Thanks Tracy!

They say right before you start and then every 30-45 minutes is best for GU. I think the the most important thing about it though, is to make sure you try it before and during your training runs so you'll be sure it won't upset your stomach on race day. Most of them are so nasty, vanilla is the only flavor I can choke down.

NICE run, April!!! Looks like once you get that chi running in your head, you're in a groove and pick up the pace nicely.

As for GU during training, I agree w/ rattle that the main thing is to try them out on your long runs to make sure it agrees with your tummy. I don't take any gu on my weekday runs even if they go over an hour. But on long runs over 2 hours I have to take something or I'd bonk. When I race a Half marathon, I'd take one gu. In Marathon racing I take an average 4. Hydrating w/ sport drinks that have electrolytes and some carb is just as important.

Oh I never take one during my weekday runs! That would be ridiculous!

My long runs for now are 8-10 miles until I can figure out my IT band. So I have been just eating a little bit of the gu just to see what it tastes like.

Rattletrap-I'm partial to mostly the vanilla as well!

Thanks for the advice!

Oh and I have never used on on a 1/2 marathon before. Maybe if I did I would be speedier?? LOL
