I slept in until about 6:30. Let the dogs out, ate, did homework, some laundry. Took a 1/2 hour nap AND then started running at 9. 11:27 average pace. My calves now feel like big ol knots.

The first few miles flew by...garmin was beeping and I was woo hoo. I think it helps that at the beginning of my run it was 30 degrees and by the end it was aobut 45. I had too many clothes on. So by mile 1 I was taking off hat and gloves and stuffing them into the buff. Which btw acts as a great place to put all those items. I took a thing of water and one with powerade and one gu.

I used the gu around mile 10.5. I"m not really sure what the gu is suppose to do but I was dead by about 13...my legs felt like knots. Not painful...just tired and knotty. so i'm grateful it wasn't OMG my legs are goign to fall off pain. Very little ITB bothersomeness. I stretched it out at about mile 7 and felt fine as far as the ITB goes. I"m glad spring seems to finally be here andthat the sun is out. It makes training sooo much easier.

and now for a nap...

and p.s. this is my longest run EVER!

Hooray! You are strong, fit, and dedicated. So excited that the ITB didn't bother you. AND, you had the mental strength to keep going even though your legs were falling off! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Awesome, awesome, awesome long run! Congratulations! It's a good accomplishment to go further than you ever have before, and a great feeling.

Congratulations on your longest run ever! Look at the progress you've made!

My calves often feel kind of knotted after long runs.

Carolyn--thanks I was getting a little worried but I woke up this morning with them feeling better. I think I will be ready for a 7 miler later on in the day.

JD-you will be seeing me do this a lot! Lots more miles ahead of me!

Aunt-I think i want to put that up as a banner or something. Maybe write it on my arm so when I"m feeliing tired on a run I can look at it and be renewed!
